If you didn't recognize him; singer is from Soilwork. His clean vocal timbre is absolutely perfect for the stuff they are doing.

I get it. Sometimes rock has a formulaic, musty old vibe to it. It's like what accordion music was back in the 1980s. Not really technologically or culturally so cutting-edge anymore.

Even your example Duran Duran sounds like yawn city sometimes. Rio is played dozens of times a day on the radio. It's soul-sucking.

So I just put NFO's newest album on for my wife and as we listen I'm thinking, "this is ironic. Its like Foreigner or REOspeedwagon but with some grit."

Foreigner had some cool tunes, even REO had some cools tunes, but Foreigner had more rock and balls to them and that Foreigner 4 CD still holds up well from 32 years later and Lou Graham had a really good voice back in the day, hes a damn good singer

Thats why i branch out to metal, rap, old school new wave (late 80s 90s) and of course blues, etc, etc whatever you name it il throw it on if the mood fits --- just put on something different for a day or 2 and it makes a big difference to me although rock music is "home base"

I wish the guitar tone was a little more vintage sounding but thats a minor gripe.

There is literally no reason to enjoy a Foreigner song.

My older brother played this when i was a kid and i still enjoy it. For me this is sorta written radio friendly rock songs, mainstream type stuff. I actually didnt realize how many hit songs they had i thought it was 2-3 songs, its alot more than that

PS.. Lou Graham had a fantastic voice

It sounds contrived to me. Plus, there are disco jams in there.

Pretty much all metal after 1990 sounds exactly the same to me. Barely musical.

I would put that year up to about 1999 or 2000, cause metal was changing big time in the 90's. Every band sounded way different. When Pantera died is when metal died for me. They were the last great metal band. Lamb Of God were a really solid band too and were the most solid metal act of the 00's IMO, but they weren't up to Pantera's level, not even close.
