Anyone get out some the second half of the week? I got 15 in on Wednesday and 12 in today. Summer finally decided to show up here. It was 92 Wednesday & 96 today. Not super humid so it wasn't bad though.

Gonna try and do a 40 mile ride tomorrow or Sunday. We'll see. My goal is to get a minimum of 50 over the 3 day weekend. I think I can get more.

Did a 100K/62 mi race this weekend. Low turnout, Heat index with humidity was over 100 degrees, and there were tons of rollers. I wish my phone showed elevation on Strava, because it only gave me like 500 ft, when my buddy's Garmin showed the ride in the thousands, lol.

Me and a few friends did the race. Two of my buddies (one of which was riding his new all carbon/zipp BMC) placed 1st and 2nd.

I was in the front 25% or so... I think I was like number 21 of 90. Better than I thought I'd do, haha. I skipped the first two SAG stops, and misjudged my hydration. Went about 20 miles with empty bottles, and cramped up a little. Sucked. Fun time though!

Went mountain biking yesterday too, and snagged a personal record on the park's hillclimb. That felt nice.

The local news covered the race, and I grabbed a couple stills...one of me and my buddies (dude on the left is the aforementioned winner), and one of me when I was still in like 5th place at the front part of the ride.

It was brutal indeed. Pretty sure I ate about 3 days worth of calories after that race.

Nice to see you guys getting some solid rides in!

I did 18 miles of hills on Saturday, after walking 18 holes in the morning, probably not the best idea! I cramped up in both calves for the second half of the ride, but still managed to make it home without having to stop.

I have a little care package arriving tomorrow with some lights, a saddle bag for a spare tube/tools, a couple jerseys, some shorts, and my first pair of bibs - woohoo!

I don't ride anything special. I have a cheap Mongoose MTB now, because someone stole my Gary Fisher a couple years back. But I ride to stay in shape anyway, not to race.

lost 85lbs. Went from 260 to 175. I still ride almost everyday. I get about 30-50 miles in a week. Of course, changing the diet was key. no more extra sugar.

I have not gotten to ride this week because things have been all messed up between work, contractors at my house and rain. Lots of rain.

Welcome Goldstar! 100 lbs is serious hard work and dedication, man - good on you. I was 290 at my heaviest and I'm down to 235 currently. I swear I feel like I've lost a little bit of weight every time I step off the bike, its a good feeling.

I also haven't gotten much riding in this week; short week, too much extracurricular crap going on, bachelor party this weekend, excuses, blah. I'll get 22 miles in by the end of the day, but that's only one roundtrip commute to work. Gotta hit it hard next week to make up for this week!

Weather here has been awesome. Lots of mountain biking lately alongside the road rides. 42 mi yesterday. 20 miles today at lunch in a little bit, then a 10 mile MTB group ride on the trails tonight before kid's volleyball game.

Metric Century (100KM/62mi) in Michigan next Sunday. Wife is running a half marathon on Saturday, and my 10 year old has her 11th Bday party too. Gonna be a long weekend!

I haven't gotten out in a week. Last week....I dunno what was going on.

But over the weekend I shoveled rock for my driveway and went on a jog with my wife and sunday i shoveled dirt around the pad for my garage. Then I was lazy after that.

Its gorgeous out today, but I have stuff going after work.....but tomorrow is supposed to be gorgeous too!

Aw damn dude, I hadn't considered that aspect of it. Double mojo sent.

My dad is dealing with back issues right now. He's had 2 back surgeries when he was younger and its bothering him again. Had an MRI and the neurosurgeon essentially said "Eh, surgery wouldn't do anything. It appears it will be chronic." and scheduled him an appointment with a phsyiatrist in freaking December!

So, my dad is trying to find out "what's ok to do, what's not ok to do, and what am I supposed to do so the nerves in my legs stop firing all the damn time???" He isn't happy right now. I'm not either.

The main thing he cares about is that he'll be able to cycle again. He's already started looking at recumbents in case he has to go that route.

My new bike should be here by friday. I just ordered the pedals this morning. Sorry LBS, you'll make enough money off me that I don't need to spend an extra $50 on the same pedals.

Oh man.

I'm gonna ride my 2015 Synapse until I'm 40. That's the plan. If, in 3 years I'm still as into cycling as I am now, then I'll buy a holycrap bike.

Still sucks your first bike got stolen, but that looks HOT!!!!!

My plans are: Get garage built/paid off. Get vasectomy/paid off. Get a bike that hopefully will take me well into my fifties.

Yeah, thieves suck. It's a nice concession to the fact that I've been out of a bike for the last 4 weeks of summer. I'm glad I was able to get one before they brought in the 2016s because I wouldn't have been able to buy the same frame for the same price. The 2016s have the same modulus frame, but are disc brakes, so they're far more expensive.

Now that I'll have the bones for a holyshit bike, I can get wheels in the future to push it over the edge. At this point, it doesn't seem to need anything. I'm hoping it does come in this week and that it stays nice outside so I can go for a cruise.

Nothing like shooting drop/climbs 30-40 feet each, 12 in a row, super steep and rooty with someone 18 inches off your back tire. Scary at times. Fun though. Today is a rest day, then road ride tomorrow.

That sounds like a riot. There's a guy at work that goes out to the mountains to mtb and he's got some hairy stories. That may be in competition for a track fixie for the next bike.
