dumb Apple vst question

Hi!

So, just got the iMac running.

Wanted to sdd some amplitube, and other amp model freebies

I download. Then Apple say no. Cannot have. 3rd party, not from the store...

Total mac newb. Halp.

I'm not a Mac guy but I'm pretty sure Logic doesn't support VSTs. You need a VST to AU wrapper.

Yup. No VST's for Apple. Must be AU/Audio Units. The Apple store has nothing to do with it. I have used free amp lug-in's in Pro X.

Why does amolitube have a download for mac then?

Because they make an AU version. You need to pick that when purchasing.

Did you buy the VST? If so you're kind of frakked as no one will let you return it.

Some good free ones are:
http://www.igniteamps.com/en/audio-plug-ins (The TPA is a great tube power amp sim, the NRR1 is a guitar preamp sim
http://lepouplugins.blogspot.com (Look on the right side for the MacAU amp pack)

LOL! No worries.

Honestly it might be worth it to spend a few bucks on ReCabinet. It is half price today. Like $20 for good amp sims and AWESOME IR's
