No. Newer Modular motor with the same displacement.

Nascar won't let them play. Reliability is too good compared to the pushrod motors.

It doesn't get driven much now, but anytime I need it it fires right off and runs fine. It's due for brakepads at the moment, but hasn't had any maintenance outside of oil changes in about five years so it's not like I can complain about needing brake pads.

Now, us Chevy guys gotta fight you Ford guys or what? We're all talkin' relics here. SRS BZNSS!

Ive never been a fan of s-10s with the 2.8l, everyone i know that had one hated it. Now the 4.3 is a great engine.

LOL, talking big time. Mine's the four-cylinder teeny engine, whatever the smallest one was you could get that year, manual transmission. Never had any trouble with it.

The little 4 bangers are supposed to be good. The 2.8...... i dont know what the hell happened but it seemed like they always leak oil and last about 60,000 miles before rebuild. Hell one guy i knew loved his s-10 blazer and swapped the engine out 4 times in a 8 year period. Sure some of those where junkyard engines but one was a rebuilt motor and it didnt last very long before throwing a rod.

Ah.

I actually like the old pushrod engines for trucks, yay torque, plus i find having 3 timing chains to be utterly annoying.

Another old Ford engine im a fan of it the 4.9l I6. No horsepower to speak of but diesel level torque from idle and very reliable engines.

Looks cool.

Im seriously considering buying an old 240z and swapping in a SBC. Tuned to 400-ish hp and moving a car that weighs a little over a ton it should be quite fun.

Setup properly, in the tens stock I bet.

The new Mustangs are not light. That being said, I watched a pretty much stocker GT rip off mid-elevens at Napa Valley a couple of years ago. Car was pulling 117MPH. In a Fox Body with easily a thousand pounds less weight, that's some fast shit.

I hate these threads. I need another Mustang like I need a hole in my head. I know it's the beers talking, but fuck, I'd love to go rip some burnouts right now.

i got my truck bc my singer was bitching about having to tote my bazz gear around the last 2 years and i was/am 9 miles from work, so i got my Lariat.
had i known that mark-ass trick would up and quit less than a month later, i would have gotten this and saved $$ even:

and yes, in that color. it looks awesome IRL

Oh yeah, some people get like over half a million miles before rebuild on them.

They have like 3 horsepower but a crapton of torque, you arent gonna win a race with one.

I want, more than anything, to pop a LS1 into a Fox body. GM makes a front mount distributor kit for it that makes it look like a SBF Motor. People walking by looking at it, will barely notice what it is.

Sweet, what does a Fox body weigh anyway?

I saw a guy online rammed a Viper motor into a 240z  Now part of me thinks this would be fun but most of me realizes that i would die driving that.

Which is pretty much what im looking for from a truck engine. Sure horsepower is sexy but give me craploads of torque for a truck.

I once read that at one point the peak torque of the 300 was set at 1100rpm, hell thats pretty much idle.

True but a 240z weighs like half that.

700ish horsepower in a 2300lb car is........scary. Or fun i havent decided which :cop:

Holy fuck, was it sitting in the front seat with him????

I mean, I know those 240z have a decently long front end...but....that V10 ain't a small motor!

No it fit just fine actually. Think about it, the stock motor is an inline 6, very long engines.

Personally i will not rest until i put a Veyron engine in a Z :rawk:

Ahh, I know jack shit about most sports cars. Or hell, about cars in general outside of specific to my job. Yeah, straight 6s are long motors so it does make sense. Damn though.

Yeah. I know its not the most scientific test but i built up a 240z on Forza with 400hp and its more than fast enough for my purposes.

Just noticed this thread. I've got a '99 XLT Vulcan. 187k and a 5 speed. I plan to drive it until it dies, which is hopefully another couple years! I love my truck.

Yeah, the 5.0 seems like a really solid motor. As much as I like selling cam actuators and solenoids, hopefully it doesn't have quite as many annoying issues like that.

Mechanically the 5.4s aren't too bad.

But the 5.0 is pretty schweet.

The 5.4 had a little problem of ejecting spark plugs due to a very low number of threads to hold the plug in.

The 5.0 is what the 4.6 should have been from the beginning. It took the aftermarket building stroker mod motors to prove that the 4.6 could be stroked reliably.

Rangers are great trucks. Cramped for a big guy, but super solid.
