So it seems like all the cool kids own Rangers Im up to 220 thousand miles on mine and it can apparently be registered as a classic car in places, yay!
It ended up getting rear ended by an old Impala or Caprice, so he finally junked it.

I have a '93 XLT with 320k miles in it. It's built like a TANK. My total repair bill for last year was $300 for a new alternator and starter. This year, absolutely nothing so far. Absolutely incredible for a truck with that many miles. I love my truck.

I had a 93 in 96 with low miles, I kept it a year and traded it towards a new car. I regretted it because it really was a fun truck to drive and pretty good gas mileage.
I read an article a while back that thinks Ford will resell the Ranger in American in about a year. Take it away for a while so people miss it, bring it back with a new design and sell them like crazy. The new design has been really popular in a lot of other countries.

Trucks were just built well back then all the way around. I have a '95 Chevy S-10 that'll probably outlive me. It doesn't get driven much now, but anytime I need it it fires right off and runs fine. It's due for brakepads at the moment, but hasn't had any maintenance outside of oil changes in about five years so it's not like I can complain about needing brake pads.
Now, us Chevy guys gotta fight you Ford guys or what? We're all talkin' relics here. SRS BZNSS!

That's a smart move on their part. Assuming the new ones have anywhere near the reliability of the older ones.

Since im sure you cant really tell mine is a 4x4 xlt xtra cab with the 4.0l v6
Sales, not counting fleet sales, were down to pretty much 0. There is essentially no market for "small" pickups in the consumer world anymore.
I'm not 100% convinced it was a smart move on their part, but I'm just a peon at the dealership level.
But yes, they are solid vehicles. Maintain them right, they're gonna keep going for a long time.
There's a 90-something 4x4 for sale near me that I want to get. But, I don't need it...at all.
Im a big fan of the 4.0 ohv engine, i own a 2000 explorer with it too and even helped my parents get an Aerostar with the same engine.
I like it far more than the mess that was the SOHC, i dont want to have to pull the engine just to replace a timing chain and what the hell was it with using plastic anywhere near the timing chain assemblies?

Ive never been a fan of s-10s with the 2.8l, everyone i know that had one hated it. Now the 4.3 is a great engine.
Mullaly and Farley saved Ford before the Economy shit itself in 2007. Along the way, they did something management had never done before. They listened to mid and lower level empoyees in regards to design and common sense. It's paid off in spades.
Along with borrowing some style cues from their Austrailian fleet.

From what I've read they just don't sell the current model in the US because it's pretty close in size to the F-150 now and a good bit cheaper so they were worried that it would canibalise their own sales.. The Rangers are still available in other parts of the world, a Friend of mine has one of the newer models, SWEET truck

You didn't love the 5.4 3V? I know I sure love them. $19 spark plugs.
My previous F150 (think it was a 2004) had that and I <3 this engine way more. Not that I fix any of this stuff myself, but it just sounds so much better and picks up much more impressively.

LOL, talking big time. Mine's the four-cylinder teeny engine, whatever the smallest one was you could get that year, manual transmission. Never had any trouble with it.

Yeah, the 5.0 seems like a really solid motor. As much as I like selling cam actuators and solenoids, hopefully it doesn't have quite as many annoying issues like that.

The current 5.0 Coyote motor is badass. It's what the Modular motors should have been from the get-go. Current GT Mustangs are serious muscle cars. If I only had the cash.......
Yeah I can just imagine what this engine or whatever variant they throw in the 'Stang would be like in a car that's 1/2 the size and 1/2 the weight. I've never went full trailer park and dual-exhausted a truck before, but I almost want to with how this thing sounds just stock.
The new Mustangs are not light. That being said, I watched a pretty much stocker GT rip off mid-elevens at Napa Valley a couple of years ago. Car was pulling 117MPH. In a Fox Body with easily a thousand pounds less weight, that's some fast shit.
I hate these threads. I need another Mustang like I need a hole in my head. I know it's the beers talking, but fuck, I'd love to go rip some burnouts right now.
