Good friend of mine grew up in El Salvador then moved to Compton. Used to hang at his place quite a bit. It was a big step up from El Salvador lol.

Several of the 3rd world countries I've lived in were perversely safer than the US in some ways. But the US is incredibly safe if you know where not to go. Weird country.

What's the problem? I hang out in worse looking areas every week. I don't bother the dealers or hookers and they don't bother me. Our nearest beer store also sells drugs. Pretty openly. Just learn to always pay with cash in small bills instead of plastic or whipping out a wad of cash. Don't be a douche and no issues

Some of those could have been shot down the block from my grandparents' house, which is in a semi-scary part of East LA.
