That would be fine if it were actually national health care. All it does is make you buy health care. And for what it costs it's sick. You could do the entire thing for no money by making a law that simply says "everyone must buy health care or you don't get treated". One line, no bureaucracy, no taxes or costs. We do it for car insurance.

I just received info on rate increases from my insurance co today. Here are the monthly premiums before the health care act and after:

21 year old male.....$68 before, $254 after

40 year old male.....$122 before, $325 after

60 year old male.....$302 before, $ 689 after

Of the $387 rate increase for a 60 year old male, $193 goes to cover premiums for those who will be getting free or subsidized coverage.

I don't see how anyone can view this as a good thing.

Are you still unemployed? There are tax credits available to help pay for health coverage through the individual insurance marketplace. If you make less than $45960 as an individual or less than $62040 as a married couple ($110280 for a family of five) you're likely to qualify for the credit.

No, I'm not unemployed, more like under-employed. I just don't have a "real" job. I do lots of part-time stuff to get by but I definitely work. I probably work harder for less pay than I ever have.
