Amazing Movie Alert: This is the End (Spoilerish)

Went to see This is the End this weekend. I have not laughed that hard in a theater in a long, long time.

The first part of the movie is dedicated to making fun of the LA/Hollywood lifestyle, in a very over-the-top, tongue in cheek way. Michael Cera absolutely stole every scene he was a part of. Once the end began there were a few moments of seriousness, but they managed to balance it really well with the comedy. The Emma Watson scene was spectacularly funny. Even Jonah Hill managed to not annoy the fuck out of me like he has in every other movie he's ever been in.

Danny McBride was gawd damn awesome. Plus, he had the most perfect gimp ever. Seriously, women AND men will be impressed.

Not a single person wasn't laughing through most of the movie. And the theater was packed. Shit was ridiculous funny. Wife already told me we're buyin it release day.

Oh, Pineapple Express 2 is awesome too, BTW.

Go watch it. Support this shit. Hard. Somebody makes a decent comedy in this day and age, they deserve to win some awards, but will likely just have to settle for money. So give it to them.

Also, dicks everywhere. EVERYWHERE. SPECIAL EFFECTS CGI DICKS FROM HELL. LITERALLY.

The face-off between McBride and Franco almost had me passing out I was laughing so hard. And yeah, the Woody Harrelson was STUPENDOUS.

But let's be honest, possession Jonah Hill > any other Jonah Hill.

His deadpan delivery during his Office days was funny, but not as funny as his over-the-topness sometimes is in the movies he's in. Like, he can switch from zero to "OMG PANIC" instantly in the funniest possible way.

Yeah. Craig's the shit. I think a lead role would really bring out some of his stuff. Especially with "over the top" stuff.

I would have liked the Miami Vice movie to be done as a comedy spoof (like they did with 21 Jump Street). Danny & Craig would have made an AWESOME Crockett & Tubbs.

Honestly, McBride made the second part of the movie the same way Cera made the first part. Everybody was good, but every single line those two guys said was brilliant.

Saw it again this weekend with the brother-in-law. He was dying through most of it. Funny how many things I picked up the second time around I didn't notice the first. Jonah THREW Jay in the hole. PE2's suggested Franco ending being Franco's ending. "Alright" being in a couple other places as background music. The blackboard wall having all sorts of funny shit written on it. NKotB 4 EVAH! Craig's fit about trying so hard to save Aziz. Lots of other shit.

Cera was funnier this time since I was waiting for his big moments. The wife about had a complete breakdown trying to hold back the laughter during the rapey-vibe scene since everybody else in the theater was being so quiet right then. I still say Possesion Jonah > all other Jonahs.

I can't wait to see the special features on this one. I'll bet the commentaries are gonna be brutally hilarious, since the parts they played are supposed to be "slightly exagerated" versions of themselves. As Connan said to Danny, "no, I know you. It's just you." Gonna be some feelings hurt.

Man I dunno WTF he was doing but I know if I was in that position there is NO WAY I could have kept a straight face... I'm sure there must be some great outtakes for that scene... I would buy the DVD just for a blooper reel.
