for people who sideswipe a car and leave without a trace, well with the exception of the dents and scratches, of course.

I agree with you absolutly, and that includes people who bump and dent your car in a public parking lot and just drive away. I have had several of these in the past year here in Florida.

My son got hit and run week before last. Guy blew through a stop sign at an intersection, my son t-boned him, the guy kept on going. As a result we're having to pick up a $1000 deductible on the repair.

A friend of mine came out of the supermarket just in time to see some idiot woman drive into her car. Idiot was about to just drive off when my friend used the remote to unlock the car (which of course makes the indicators flash), which made the idiot stop. "Oh, is that your car?"

What the fuck difference does it make? It's ok to drive off as long as the owner doesn't see you hit their car?!

That's why it's a crime and most deductible waivers apply for hit-and-run situations.

Sombody keyed the drivers door of my Mustang for no apparent reason about two years ago. If I had cought him (or her) I would probably still be in jail. :shoot:

It can be both. My car got keyed years ago by some punks in the neighborhood. So it was random. My friends car got keyed by a jealous cunt who was mad at him. That was personal.

Boy, girl, I don't care. Keying is grounds for a beating.

Hi. I'm an insurance agent.

Please enlighten me on this subject.

In all seriousness though, I do Nationwide. We DO have a deductible waiver. It ONLY applies in the case of a total loss (hence the name, Total Loss Deductible Waiver), and it's an optional coverage that you pay extra for. Aside from specifically scheduling that coverage, there is no such thing as a deductible being waived.
Either way, deductibles such as the one you're referencing apply only to comprehensive and collision coverage. Hit-and-run, at least in South Carolina, is covered by your uninsured motorist coverage. UM has a deductible all its own, separate from your comp/collision. In SC it's $200.

To OP: Mojo sent. Been there, done that. One time it happened, I was SITTING IN my car in the parking lot. I honked furiously at them, I followed them about a mile down the road until traffic and signals eventually separated us. Hit and run has literally NEVER happened to me in my DD. It's always been in one of my toy cars.

Has anyone ever actually left a note on a car after hittin it?

I was at the mall eating an ice cream the other day on a bench and saw some dude back into another car, do a hardcore 180 degree burnout and haul ass off.

I lol'd for about 10-15 minutes. Then another 10 minutes when I saw some duck faced bitch come out and shit down both legs. Lol

Sometimes I wish my car was equipped like the 1980s Spy Hunter video game one. Machine gun, oil slicks, smokescreens and missiles.
