NAD - it’s heavy and unnecessarily loud

Post by Dave »

I traded my old Martin 000 since I inherited my dad’s old Martin. I don’t play much acoustic so one Martin is enough for me. I reactivated my Facebook to list it and see a local dude with this and he’s looking for a Martin OM. I offered him my 000, and we traded.

I’ll miss that Martin but my dad’s is better, and this Z absolutely fucks.

and with the Pittman Tele:

Look good feel good

It does look good and sound good. It's too late to get a mic'd up clip so I ran it in to the Captor and a blackback IR. Mostly straight in with my Pittman, and I turned on the Origin 76 set basically as a clean boost for a bit.

This was Dr Z's first attempt at a Trainwreck circuit. It's an entirely different amp than the later Prescription Extra Strength that Brad Paisley helped develop.

From Dr Z himself:

It was my philosophical take on the Trainwreck amp design.
Not a copy of a TW, but an attempt to reproduce the simple driving tones of the TW's.
I even sent one to Ken Fischer ,got his blessing and little TW tweak.

Yeah depends on the model. He’s got some other TW inspired models as well, some that are definitely Vox inspired, a few of various Fender lineage, Marshall, etc. I'm far from an expert but a lot of his amps seem to have started out inspired by various historic designs or sounds but are definitely their own thing.
