Posting a video of vintage guitar on Youtube

I had a question and wanted to know your opinions:
I have a 1962 Fender Stratocaster along with a Deluxe amp that is in pristine original condition. I have been thinking of selling it and aside from going to the usual shops who will most likely want to give me 60% of what it is worth I was thinking if I throw it up on Youtube perhaps I would get some ( famous not so famous but had money ) people who would make some offers.
Never did anything like that before so not sure if it is worth it.

Posting a video won't hurt, but I don't know if you would get offers on YT since it's not really a commerce platform.

If you're willing to let it go for 60% of it's market value, I'd suggest you contact a reputable vintage dealer like Gruhn Guitars. They might buy it from you at 60% if it's really a pristine condition instrument. Or you can do a consignment and have them sell it for you for a commission.

Or you could try to sell the guitar yourself on Reverb.com

You can set your price and be open for offers. In this case, having an official appraisal in hand will really help you get top dollar for your instrument.

If you choose to do that and you never used Reverb, I'd suggest buying/selling a few smaller items first to build some kind of feedback reputation since it will be hard to sell an expensive guitar without any feedback on your account.

So these are possible avenues you should look at. The market is really hot now so you shouldn't have any problems selling this.

Thanks for the Reply Billy - and no I am not interested in getting rid at such a discount. I do not need money so a fast cash sell does not sway me. I did call Gruhn and in my opinion it was a low ball offer. I had others offer $12,000 more then what he did.

Yeah sorry I misread your post.
I do think Reverb is your best bet to sell it for as close to full value as possible. If you don't need the money, then that's even better because you can afford to wait for the right offer.

If you don't have a Reverb account, set up one and make a few purchases to create some feedback on your account. Doesn't have to be anything expensive. Buy a few pack of strings, picks, cables etc and the sellers will give you positive feedback. Just so you don't post a big price item with no history.
