Youth and forums

Post by fretless »

I read the other day that the punk ass kids of today are not using forums like this one anymore . I know we have a few younger members here but mostly old fuckers . I mean under 25 and even that is getting old , especially if still living at home lol .

I started posting on HCAF when I was 14, 29 now. Forums are definitely antiquated

Hell, the kids today consider facebook, instagram, twitter etc. to be boomer platforms  . Tik tok and snapchat are the things

Seriously. I also love the right amount of moderation. Here is perfect. TGP is heavy handed. Of course we don't have the manpile's here that we used to and that is a good thing. Bill doesn't have to do too much babysitting.

Yeah I refuse to participate in tiktok. And I really resent that FB/Instagram inserts random bullshit "reels" in my feeds that seem to basically just be tik toks

I can't deal with discord either. Format is irritating and drives me nuts

I mostly browse mycology groups, shitposting groups and music on Facebook. I've narrowed what shows up in my feed pretty dramatically. I'm newerish to instagram but I enjoy it

As someone almost at 50; I get that I am nowhere near it's target market. As of late; tiktok has been the direct cause of a bunch of issues as well as so many false alarms it's not funny. I am just not a fan.

My FB feed is actually pretty good. I don't do instagram as it's slowly gravitating towards a different version of the same boat tiktok put us in  From a non-work perspective; there is certainly some much cooler content on there though.

I use FB for the memory section so I can systemically delete everything I've ever posted without having to do it all in one fell swoop.

Discord is all I really use.

Setting up a forum of this type now is a natural age filter. For better or worse.

I think I got into forums back in like grade 8? shredguitars.com and the Kramer Forum, shortly followed by JCFonline. I don't know if any of those exist anymore. (I know Shredguitars is gone for sure, the original Kramer Forum is dead. And JCF is likely a ghost of its former self)

I think the last big "forum-like" thing is Reddit.

I think TikTok is cool, lots of different types of content, not all nubile young women dancing with their bouncing titles. Lots of cool music stuff there for sure. I don’t create any vids, just watch stuff while I’m doing by bizness on the throne.

Step up, son. I'm wearing special order USA made New Balance. For the sophisticated old fucker.

And brilliant, blazing red Aerotech socks. Cause rocking a desk chair takes some hardcore breathability in your footwear.

Bro. I've been rocking high quality wool socks for weeks now. I was standing at the midi controller hammering out some patterns for a hip hop beat the other day, wearing a sweater, khaki shorts, and wool socks. My wife comes in while I'm recording, got my mean face on cause this beat is gangsta and she said...

"Someone let their dad loose in the studio."

The image I had of myself in that moment rolling hard through the hood on rims wearing bling- shattered.

LOL.

I'm so glad we have our wives to remind us how uncool we are.

My wife's latest was when I played her a song I recorded a while back and she goes, "I thought you said you play heavy stuff."

Ouch hun. Ouch.
