Not quite; but you know, still
I have liked a few Protest the Hero albums (the singer in this clip) but I have always wondered what he would do in a more traditional metal sense. His voice always reminded me of Eric A.K. from Flotsam I think he's got it covered

He's great. I can see some maybe not liking it as it rides along in the higher registers? FWIW; I love the original song. And I love Maiden. I am trying to think of the last PTH album I dug...it was probably a decade-ish ago? Really good band; kind of in the BTBAM vein (minus the circuis riffage) with proggy metal that doesn't irritate me ala Dream Theater. I like hearing him in a more traditional song structure based format.

There's always been something playful and goofy about them that has take what I don't like about super proggy stuff and made it fun. Hell one of the last times I saw them live Rody came back for the encore dressed in a hilariously skin tight Wolverine costume. I liked them all the way through Volition but thats where I've dropped off. But yeah when I say best I just mean that he's super fucking skillful, I love his high register stuff but also love all the different kinds of screams and shit he does.
But yeah I feel like his voice shines better on older songs more than newer stuff, there just isn't as much room for him IMO. Have you listened to Mystery Weekend? I love that Rody decided to do that.

I have not listened to Mystery Weekend. The last record of Protest I listened to and really, really dug was Fortress. I'm old and behind Watching some vids from this album now and these guys are unreal musicians. Killer grooves while being technical but really straddling that line where they don't go too apesh!t where they lose the plot of having songs. Good stuff.

Check out Mystery Weekend if you enjoy the punkier stuff off of Kezia, you'll dig it. But yeah they're absurdly talented dudes. Also super fucking cool when I met them in person too, ridiculously humble given their talent. I really wish I enjoyed the last two albums more but for some reason they just don't scratch the itch for me yet like their earlier work did.

I honestly am only familiar with Elfman as a composer; Dead Man's Party and the Weird Science theme song This song really translated to this other style quite convincingly. The 2 Minutes to Late Night dudes do a lot of cool collab stuff on their YT channel.

Resident PTH fanboi checking in. I was wondering if someone ELSE would post this video. Bravo
Of all the PTH releases you can probably skip "Scurrilous". Everything else is great. Their latest offering "Palimpsest" is so fucking epic. Lots of orchestral parts that make the whole album sound huge. "From the Sky" features Rody fucking GOING FOR IT to show that he didn't blow his voice out like he thought he did. Song gives me chills.

What about Stay? That was a pretty big song. The guitar riffs is killer!

He would've been a great Joker too lol

It probably took me more listens to get into it than any other PTH release, but I find myself getting a ton of ear worms from it that make me listen to it at least every other day lately. Rody really lets loose on this one, for sure. I thought the vocals were a little too forward in the mix, but that's nit picking.
