I can't believe they applied for a hearing with the Supreme Court! If the SCOTUS took this case, they'd have to hear every copyright infringement case....they ain't going there! https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/led ... 18849.html
My take on this matter is... If the original members of Spirit did not sue when they were alive, no one has the right to... regardless of how much or how little the two songs sound alike.

I just listened to "Taurus" for the first time and knew within four notes that it was different from "Stairway". How in the blue fuck did this make it so far up into the courts?
I definitely think Page lifted the intro, seeing how he did shows with Spirit so he had to have heard it. Plus, ol' Jimbo wasn't shy about "borrowing" back in those days.
But other than the decending intro riff, the two songs don't sound alike at all, IMO.
This is what happens when people mistake an arpeggio as a melody. Big difference between the intro to Stairway to Heaven and vocal melody of Live la Vie
Spirit should pay Led Zeppelin's a fee since it's the only reason they're still talked about in 2020.

All Spirit members had long since joined the spirit world, when this whole lawsuit nonsense started! I hope Michael Skidmark spent a lot of his own money on this "project".
