Corona 15 weight gain

Post by rock flag and eagle »

I lost about 22 pounds from last Sept to March when corona locked us all at home. I was working from home all the time, so I ended up drinking beer daily. By July I ended up 13 pounds heavier, I'm sure ordering food on Door Dash all the time didn't help. So I stopped daily drinking and I'm trying to get back down.
Who else put on weight during the shut downs?

Yep.

:(

However, a couple of months ago I started a plan to take off that extra 15 pounds. After two months I am now only 25 pounds away from my goal.

I put on 15lbs but lost 7 the last few weeks. 8 more to go and I am good. Hopefully by the end of October it will be all gone.

I lost 12 then gained 8. I'm not overly worried about it to be honest so long as I don't go to total shit. I'm still lifting in my home gym so any bad dietary choices are still getting put to some use

Oh yeah. At least 15 here. Going back to jiu jitsu today though so that will stop the trend. Once my weights arrive, I'll really be set because I can just lift in my house, which is so clutch.

I don't really ever gain weight. But the daily drinking thing wasn't a good new habit/way of life. It has affected me in other ways, like poor sleep... so I've been dialing that back significantly.

Started doing exercise again at the house with some basic equipment I have (jump rope, 20lb medicine ball, tension bands) and I have a 50lb kettle bell that I ordered a month ago that should be arriving this week. Damned global supply chain...

One really good thing that's happened is my wife and I for some reason have been having a stronger and happier relationship than before the pandemic. Not like we didn't already, but we'd react and snap towards each other a lot quicker in arguments and whotnot. I think with so much bullshit we're dealing with we're just really grateful that we have each other as support. In times like these very few things are worth more than a good marriage.

I haven't really gained weight, but I still need to trim down. A WFH pandemic at the same time when I tend to drink more around the pool has taken a little more toll on the liver than is probably reasonable, though...

I had lost a bunch of weight right before corona as well. Then I started drinking every day. Eating ice cream constantly, etc.

Then, the kid wanted to finally ride the balance bike.

I ended up riding every single day as well for about 6 weeks.

Weight is back down ftmp. feelin good. I've spent more time wearing sweaty clothes and living like a kid than I have in 20 years.

I actually lost a ton of weight when I was working from home. Turns out having the food around you all day long (I was usually working in the kitchen) you tend not to think about it that much. At work I always go grab a meal at the prescribed time whether I feel like I need it or not.

Back at work I went full-tater-cakes and started mowing food down again. I just decided this weekend to put a stop to that. Skipped one meal today and went super light with lunch. I was up at 4 to walk the dogs around the neighborhood and hope to keep that up until the snow flies.

On the liquor front, the guy at the local shop was telling me there's been a massive run on liquor in our area, to the point where demand was outpacing supply on several popular brands and they were having trouble getting stock. Turns out that things that need eight or more years to age can't just increase supply on a dime when a global pandemic hits. Who knew?

Between my Dodge Challenger and Bauer Custom Build I've been getting a lot more attention from the ladies.

I can eat pretty much anything I want during the day and when the lights go down, it's game time.

I have lost weight about 13 pounds,
I am not snacking since I have been working from home and I now do about the equivalent of 8 To 10 miles a day on an Exercise bike. The sit ups and weights.
I also do not eat until 11 am.

It’s working but I have to go to the office tomorrow to check all the hardware for the gradual return, so it may go down hill.

I wasn’t a big drinker before, but I was drinking a lot of beers in the evening, every day. I was also drinking tequila in the mornings when I was working from home, it was mixed with orange juice or grapefruit juice so it’s okay right?
I also started smoking pot daily every night lol.
The drinking stopped but I still hit my vape cart nightly .

I've lost about 10 pounds too. My wife started the Joe Wicks 90 day plan mid-pandemic and I'm along for the ride. Mostly the change in food, as I work from home full-time and just can't find the time to exercise (though we did get a dog too, so I walk her at least 30 mins a day).

It’s working but I have to go to the office tomorrow to check all the hardware for the gradual return, so it may go down hill.

What we've found works surprisingly well is to avoid carbs after lunch, and have some proper fats with breakfast and lunch for the energy without the insulin spike that makes you hungry. Stuff like an avocado, some full-fat greek-style yoghurt, eggs... (well, that's mostly protein, but it's still a lower glycaemic index hit than carbs).

I have been eating tons of greek yogurt, mixed with almond milk, and we have a dog too so that helps.

Dogs make the best workout buddies. They'll never let you skip a day. Unless it's full-fledged apocalypse level weather outside. Even then, sometimes.

I gained a shit ton of weight from november to February, 245 -> 275, Holidays, then a very very bad january of family deaths and traveling boosted that to levels unheard of. I still have 10 or so pounds to go to get back to where I was like to be at but those 10 pounds have been very very hard. But all in all, CV helped me more than hurt me. Im not a big fan of food delivery for hot foods i like to eat at a restraunt for that.. so cv was a big help for me.

Dogs are a great warmup for children. The puppy/toddler psychology is nearly identical. You can really see how much humans and dogs co-evolved once you've raised both. It's a trip actually.

When the pandemic hit my daughter and I would ride around on razor scooters looking for dead bees on the ground. There's a disturbing amount of them where I live which I believe is due to pesticides, so I started collecting them and plan to show up to an HOA meeting like "ohmegerd yer prstercercerds er krllrn der beezrs!!! :scream: "

Guess who doesn't let me not scooter around collecting bees when I get home?

Not so much the weight gain but it's the muscle loss for me too. Before Covid, I was probably in my best shape since college with the intermittent fasting and basic exercise: running around the neighborhood, up-and-down stairs of nearby parking lots, push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups.

Then I think my mental health took a hit when everything shut down in March: apocalyptic news, human interaction cut down, stress eating, working from home, etc.

Recently, it had been the heat and the bad air from somewhat nearby fires that's kept me in.

I guess it's time to restart. Oh man, is it going to be painful.

I actually dropped 15 lbs during my gym free home quarantine.
Literally said goodbye to the last 2 years of work in the gym in only a few months due to lack of training, shitty diet, and way to much drinking.

I also happened to get fatter at the same time. I'd not had a bigger gut/smaller arms than in did back in June.
Since moving to Austin I've been back into the gym and hiking so things are starting to turn back around rather quickly which is refreshing.
But still the old joints are going to take awhile to get back into the swing of things I can tell already.
