So Who Here Has Had the RONA, Good and Bad Stories Welcome

Post by Gargoyle7 »

Well folks, you don't want this crap if you are over 50, I can tell ya that. The worst part for me was the fatigue and pneumonia. I have had issues for years with my lungs and it was no walk in the park. Both my son's got high fever and lung issues. Believe that the oldest brought it home from FEDEX. I didnt spike a high fever, just lots of breathing problems. The diarrhea and no smell or taste were more of an annoyance than anything else.

We had all been taking vitamins and Quercetin as supplements. I am also on Losartan and think it may have helped. I expected a lot worse. I definitely got my things in order, Will, insurance policies, etc for the wife just in case. That is one thing I can say everyone should do. You would be surprised how much you dont have written down anywhere. I had a policy or two that she didnt even know existed.

I was tested months ago and it was negative at that point.
I haven't been tested since but I had some light chest pain and a sore throat a while ago that went away after a few days. Could it have been the 'Rona? :idk:

Also, please no politics on this thread.

Glad to hear you're doing better, Gargoyle. I've been trying to stay healthy, taking vitamins etc just preemptively. And it's a good idea anyway, rona or not.

Good to hear you are doing well Billy. Yeah, sorry I didn't even think about any political content in regards to the subject. Was just really trying to share my experience and see if any other members had been through the virus.

A bandmate had it a couple of weeks ago. He wasn't feeling well so he went in for a test Monday morning and tested positive. He went home and rested and was fine by Thursday. He described his experience as feeling like he had "half a flu". He did say he some lingering loss of smell for a bit but other than that, he is ok. His wife, who is a nurse and probably the source of his infection, also tested positive and she is now fine as well.

Some background, he is a non-smoking, healthy guy in his 40's and he is a singer with a powerful set of lungs. Overall, I would say he has very little in the way of health problems that I know of.

That seems to be the way with this virus, some people breeze right thru it and others flat out die.

I work in health care/social services and my employer requires I be tested every few months. Two months ago I tested negative and test number two is this coming Thursday.

I'm no stranger to body aches, occasional night sweats and a cough that never seems to go away (medication side effect) but back in February and March I had the chills and a behind the eye headache and that is not typical for me. I was concerned at the time but not long after experiencing those symptoms I tested negative.

I had 8 weeks off work with it, mild symptoms (fever, throbbing head, fatigue, breathing, dizzyness) but really persistent which started to wear me down after several weeks. I've still got a mild headache now from late March

Glad you're feeling better.

I have a co-worker who got it from her son, she tested positive end of June, shes in her 60's so I was worried for her. Our county has been on mandatory face masks for the last 3 weeks, so I wasn't too concerned with me getting it. Our company had a mobile unit come out last Monday to test all of us, no one else came back positive.
She said all she's had was a cough, her son as well and he's been cleared to go back to work. She will get tested again this week to be cleared to come back. Her husband ended up in the hospital from it last week and had to be put on oxygen. When I last talked to her, she said he was in much better condition.

Was sure I had it, got antibody tested recently and came back positive so that verifies it.

Lungs still not 100% and I went through it in March but they have been slowly getting better. Regular exercise has been a good way to measure this, really hoping I do get back to 100% sometime in the future and this is a permanent state.

My buddy that works with me tested positive, but he only had symptoms for about 3 days (he's younger than me; probably 26 or 27) but then he lost his sense of taste for 10 days afterwards

He's back to 100% now

I have not been tested, but I do not believe I have or have had it. I've been working from home and only going out for grocery and liquor store runs and masked up everytime.

I did have a friend that contracted it 20 days ago. She went out to for a quick grocery run and got light headed and woozy. She then went home and some of the symptoms hit her like a sack of bricks. She said she went from perfectly fine to super sick in the span of half an hour. She went to an emergency clinic where the proceeded to run tests for COVID-19, flu, and other things. Everything, but COVID-19 came up negative, but the COVID-19 tests took 2 days to come back. Sure enough, as her doctor expected, she caught the coronavirus. Her symptoms weren't life threatening, but she said it was worse than the worst flu she ever had. The scary part about all this is she's pregnant, so she was very concerned about the child. The doctor said that the chance of the child contracting is pretty low, but they told her to keep track of her own vitals regularly and report any abnormalities to her ob/gyn doctor. Fortunately, she was tested 16 days later and was declared virus free. She is staying in quarantine for another 2 weeks, if not longer, just to not further spread the disease. This is the only close person that I know of that has had it. I have a few friends that have lost friends and family members to the disease, though.

I just hope everyone starts being more vigilant by masking up, practicing social distancing, and staying home as much as possible. Houston is pretty bad right now with the spike in new cases and everyone needs to be doing their part to slow it down.

I haven’t, though I do worry about it slightly as I have very bad asthma.
Unfortunately 2 people died from it at work. I work at one of the biggest investment banks in Europe and there was a lot of staff traveling globally, that’s all stopped.

My wife had it in March. She had a persistent cough, mild fever, body/head aches, a skin rash and fatigue. She was through the fever in a few days, the body aches in a week, and the fatigue/cough/headache/rash in a month or so. She describes it as the weirdest she's ever been sick since she had such varied symptoms. She literally did not leave the couch for the three days after she got symptoms.

I had it as well but was completely asymptomatic.

Yeah I won’t get the tests. Or vaccine if that comes around.

I was sure I had it as numerous people In my household have either tested positive or positive for the antibodies. Including my wife, daughter and her bf. my son has Not been tested either but I know when I was sick he was really moving around at that time so I believe it got the whole house

For the most part every one of us were asymptomatic. No one required any sorta of medical intervention. But when I believe I had it I had a cold and hot flashes as my main symptom which turned into night sweats during sleep. Like as soon as I’d fall asleep I’d wake up 30 minutes just overheating. It’s like my body couldnt regulate temperature. Anyway, that has still kinda persisted to this day almost 4 months later. I still wake up most nights hotter than fuck and I was always the hotter the better kinda person. And even at work I sweat WAY more than usual. And even my wife has complained about the same. So perhaps this is a delayed side effect. No way to really know but this did all start after we first had signs of it in my house

In other people I know themechanic were my wife likely caught it is STIlL in the hospital 4 months on.

My daughter is a nurse and has been working the ICU for Covid Patients these past 2 weeks and there is some stories from there I won’t get into but it’s just weird.

And my 79yo aunt who has been resigned to wheelchair from MS for 15 years was left neglected in her shady ass nursing home for 8 days before finally someone called it in that she hasn’t been washed or changed in that amount of time and was extremely sick. She gets admitted to the hospital with pneumonia tests positive for Covid and it’s like damn this really is nailing these old folks homes. No one thought she’d beat it. But she did and because she is one of those old stubborn types she wanted back to amber shithole place where she “lives” and she was back there 10 days after being admitted with life threatening illness. So there ya go.

Damn dude, these are some scary stories. I don't know many people, but the few I know whom I asked all said they knew nobody directly who was infected. I've only heard stories too, second hand, third hand. Then there's the news.

My wife used to work under this principal last year, and this principal's husband died at the beginning of April. My wife spoke to this principal two months after her husband died and the story was that after the schools closed, the school district immediately set up these grab-n-go stations at selected campuses where they served free food to the community. This principal was stationed at one of the locations on March 16, the first day of the school closure. She told my wife that on that first day, there were a lot of handshakes and hugs and God-bless-yous but no masks or gloves. Can you imagine just how ignorant and naive we all were then? She said she got sick the next day and her husband too. Her husband was hospitalized and put on a ventilator, and nobody was allowed to visit him. Story is he died alone. The principal thinks her husband must've just given up.

Can you imagine! Dying alone? Giving up! Just fuckin' heartbreaking . . .

According to the news, the numbers are blowing up here in L.A. now. We have a friend who's a nurse and she says that the people coming in are all types: socio-economically, race, ethnicity, age, etc.

The people who live behind us have a home daycare business. I hear the little toddlers every morning. These people also like gatherings. Last month I heard a live Mariachi band and on the Fourth of July, they had a smaller gathering. This week I noticed I haven't heard the kids since last week. Makes me wonder if the C19 hit that house (or somebody snitched on them for a possible unlicensed daycare facility - I dunno).

I'm scared and am more sensitive again.

I'm in a similar boat. My GF's mom is 91and we need to be around her, so I'm very careful. I go to the store once a week (masked and distancing) and I'm around our small family circle, but that's it. As much as I'd like to go out to eat, or see a band in a bar - or any number of things, I just don't do it. It sucks, but it will pass and I will at least know I did what I could to prevent infection for those around me...

I’m getting tested tomorrow. I’m 99.99999% sure what I’m feeling is just allergies, but it doesn’t hurt to get tested.

My wife got tested last week. Came back negative. I also live in a city where there are 4 active cases, so yeah. The chances of me having it are effectively zero.

I have heard that if you go and get tested and anytime you get back retested that its counted in the numbers as all 'new' cases, if true that would throw off numbers a bit :idk:

I knew a older guy through my job who passed away in April, he was overweight and i heard he partied hard in his youth and may have some other underlying issues as well (i think diabetes but im not not 100% sure) but he was overweight and walked with a cane in the past year or so

The day a vaccine is announced holy shit will be like a giant party, i cant wait for this shit to end
