Bob Weir sings like a tone deaf person

Post by BroSlinger »

At 40 seconds in, you can hear it. (and this isn't even a bad example of him singing.)

At least Jerry could carry a tune. The nice thing about the concerts = they switch every other song ftmp. I can just hit the "next" button every time Bob sings, and it goes straight back to Jerry.

Bro, it's tough to sing in tune when you're wearing super tight pants and peaking on acid. :idk:

It's not that. You can hear the unsure vibrato of a person who is tone deaf. My college homme failed music theory because he couldn't sing back the pitch intervals. I'm very familiar with the sound of a tone deaf person trying incredibly hard to sing.

Interesting. I've always thought the Dead sorta "stretched" tuning, and was never sure if they did that purposely or it was more, "eh, good enough for rock and roll". Now to think it was just Bobby's tone deaf voice the whole time... :hmm:

Proud of myself. I listened to this all the way through :irish: I dig the composition, actually. I always assume the Dead are going to sound like horribly out of tune burnouts :cop:

His voice is good in small parts when he is singing in his lower register.

Dude, even though I'm liking the Dead these days, I was dragged to a Phish show a number of years ago.

I still hate them to this day.

I got too drunk and acted like a freaking dick. I thought my girlfriend (now wife) was going to leave me.

So, I guess I'm just saying, roll with it, and don't get too drunk.

FWIW, I've been watching D&Co vids, and they kind of suck. You can't recreate the experience. Jerry is dead. People need to create something new. like a Jerry hologram that sings Mayer's and Bob's parts.

I'll be working at the show so getting too drunk won't be an option. :(

Well, it shouldn't be an option. I may have to relax my stance on drinking for this particular show. :hmm:

FWIW, they sound like weekend warrior Allman brother cover band guys if you're semi paying attention. Same vibe with the piano and the songwriting. (Except that they played every day for like 50 years. )

It sounds like Summer to me. I like it.

Oh man, please don't connect the almighty ABB to this version of the Dead. :(

moe and Umphrey's McGee are both currently touring. That is my advice for creating something new. I really want to go to the next moe.’s tropical throe.down in Jamaica.
