Interesting. Been a registered Republican since I was 18, roughly 25ish years ago. According to the test, I am a left leaning Libertarian.

I usually try to steer clear of political threads, but this one made me genuinely curious, so thanks for the thread, my bigfooted GABbro. I wonder how much I have changed vs how much my party has changed since the late 80s/early 90s. The Reagan/Bush era Republicans barely resemble the Trump era Republicans, but I probably wouldn't really see eye to eye with 18 year old Itchy either... :hmm:

EDIT: My graph looks identical to Ajax's.

That was cool to go through, made me think about books, people and situations that pushed me towards one answer or another. Some were really difficult to to consider, in a good way.

I took a really comprehensive political test once that had a lot more categories than 4, but it still put me in the Left Libertarian camp.. which is correct. Pretty much classical liberal o the bone.

Modern leftist liberals are definitely on the Authoritarian side of things.

i'm pretty chill and believe that like dang near everything else in the universe, balance is necessary.

i don't even call them (modern leftist-authoritarians) liberals; i just use leftists. to me a liberal is open and accepting. leftists are very intolerant of others' views.

Most people label themselves this or that, but the truth is, you're a little more everything than just 1 label.

Interesting test. Definitely some difficult questions.

I have a feeling it was written by someone with differing views from mine.

I consider myself more libertarian than it indicated

Check out this page, from the same website; it lists songs by political category: https://www.politicalcompass.org/music

Click on the title of each song to bring up the YouTube vid. The cursor doesn't change... just click on the title anyway.

Modern leftist liberals are definitely on the Authoritarian side of things.

In the present-day United States, that assertion is simply untrue. The overwhelming common denominator of what contemporary left wing liberals are rejecting and resisting is authoritarianism. And, not coincidentally, there's a mountain of research that shows the best predictor of Trump support is having been raised in an authoritarian home environment.

So, no.

I'm not sure that I buy completely the idea that the opposite of Authoritarian is Libertarian, but I think that's just because "Libertarianism" as a position carries more connotations and associations with it than merely being non-authoritarian. :idk:

But here's my graph, which will shock very few people:

ha.. man, lot of extreme questions. hilarious that there's any give on some of those questions, 'cause in all seriousness, there were like 2 that warranted anything other than strongly agree/disagree or just a WTF reaction.

not a big fan of any libertarian label. hilariously reductionistic nonsense shaped by hyperpartisan ick.. :D

What does it even mean to be conservative now? Seems like that is changing everyday.

Big govt spending, exploding deficits, anti free trade, pro tariffs, govt propping up private markets.
