Fixed My DAW, Celebration Test Clip

Post by maggotspawn »

I spent a bunch of $$$ upgrading my DAW. It was working great and then suddenly I was getting @#$5ed up noises while recording. Tried a bunch of stuff, was still getting static noise.
I finally tracked it down to a power saving setting in the BIOS.
Seems to be working O.K. now. Here's a clip with one of my Squier Tele's and GSP 1101.

I did use the Latency Monitor app. It said my PC was good to go, but I was still getting noise. Drove me nuts.
I swapped in humbuckers in my Teles. They also have coil taps. That recording was in single coil mode.

look up "optimizing PC for audio recording" online and there's several adjustments you can make to improve things so that doesn't happen

keep at it. there is a lot of noise and some harshness but that might be what you're after with the high gain sound. I've come to love transparent EQ's and multiband compressors for mixing and separation. Even Reaper's stock ReaEQ and ReaXcomp are excellent.

The noise your hearing is probably the delay I had on the GSP 1101. The harshness is probably the preset.
