That's Ricky Medlocke. He was the drummer for Lynyrd Skynyrd when they first formed and has been playing guitar for Skynyrd for a couple of decades.

Growing up in Huntsville, AL in the 70's, I pretty much grew up on southern rock. I didn't really have a choice. Here are a couple of lesser known Southern Rock bands.

Some talkbox goodness right here.

Allman Brother yes. Little Feat, a great band but an LA band. Not southern rock.

The best 5 bands in the history of southern rock would be:

1 Allmans with Duane
2 Allmans with Dickey and Warren
3 Allmans with Dickey and Derek
4 Allmans with Dickey and Dan Toler
5 Allmans with Warren and Derek

Yeah, I'm kinda partial to the Brothers.

A souther rock thread without BlackBerry Smoke is a sad thing indeed. Or Shinedown's version of Simple Man.

Fuck yeah.

Most of the classics have already been named so here's a little new(er) southern rock. One of my favorite all-time bands. Just a few samplings from my favorite era of theirs.
