NCD!! Finalized the deal last week and it's now mine

Post by Dave »

I know, most of you have already seen this, but I don't care. I am loving this thing so far.

2013 Honda Accord Sport with the 6 speed. Test drove it with 11 miles and bought it with 18.

Fits my Marshall cabs no problem, and gets almost 30mpg in the city. winning!

I get 33mpg in my Mazda 3 5 door. Fits everything in the world and looks better than the Accord which fits people who major in math.

:cop:

Parks in smaller spaces as well.

Oh yeah, one of my requirements was to not look like a teenage boy racer :cop:

Anyway, my Volvo S40 shares a platform with the Mazda 3, so I know for a fact the backseat isn't big enough. The Accord has a ton of space for my kids.

33mpg in the city? that's pretty damn good. Parking in small spaces? I work from home, so parking is a non-issue.

Dude, I've missed driving a standard for sooooo long. My wife can't drive standard, so I've always gotten cars we could both drive. However, she now has the Volvo, and this Honda is mine. Only mine :D BIG jump going from my old Jeep 5 speed to this slick ass 6 speed.

We do have loosely enforced tint laws, but I'm pretty happy with it as-is. Dark enough to not see in, but not too dark where I can't see out of it at night haha. The Volvo has no tint, so maybe as I get accustomed to having tint I will want to go darker. At the moment I need to take the Volvo in for tint since the Wife is jealous :D

Tint laws..

I had 3 layers of 5% on the back window of a '70 SS 396 El Camino I drove when I was a kid. It looked like someone spray painted the window black ha ha.

Finally got pulled over for it & had to show proof when I went to court that I removed it lol.

God, I did dumb shit when I was a kid.

Nice Dave!

Did they redesign the Accord for 2013? I seem to remember them being hideous for a few years. Or am I thinking of the Civic?

Anyway, glad to hear you're liking it. Didn't you get it for around ~20k or so? I can't remember if you said. Wifey's interested in those when it comes time to replace her car (hopefully in another 3 years or so) and while I know car prices can vary wildly in that time, they'll probably be on the list.

Congrats again dude!

Yes, all new for 2013 :thu:

I originally went to buy a 2012, but the interior/exterior were really disappointing. I really didn't like the interior.

The 2013 is soooo much cleaner and the 'Sport' model msrp is like $24k. I ended up getting a great deal from what I've read, as the out the door price after tt&l, tint, dealer options, delivery, etc was $22k. (tt&l alone was over $1400) It was over $5k off. Pretty cool since the 6 speed models are hard to come by, especially in black/black.

This isn't my pic, but the interior is the same.

The CVT models are EPA rated at 27/37. Pretty good for a 189hp car of this size.

Awesome dude! Welcome to the accord club!

It's funny though, when we first bought ours last year we took it over to the inlaws place and they had a friend over that was giving the gears for not buying american. Quick inspection of the door stickers revealed that our accord was made in kansas and his Chevy was made somewhere in mexico. Oh the irony.

It was just too hard to ignore their reliability, size and fuel economy. I swore I'd keep buying European cars but...

Do they like their '10 Accord?

My brother was doing the same thing. I pointed out his Jetta was made in Mexico and he shut up

Yeah I think they're happy with it overall. That eco-mode cylinder switching is pretty killer if you do a lot of highway driving. They're thinking of moving back up? (down) to a CRV or something though (they briefly had one before they got the accord and really didn't like it), which I strongly disagree with since they have a fairly new pickup as well. I'm not the one who has to drive it everyday though so I can't complain too much.

Myself, as tempting as it is to have something flashy in my parking space - my '95 Lumina will do just fine for now. I drive maybe 100kms a month now (65 miles) unless I go to visit them or friends in Edmonton. It may be nearly 20 years old, but I just cracked 60000km in February on it  It ain't pretty... peppered with hail damage, and literally a granny car (I bought it from my grandma's estate when she died and I was a broke student), slow as fuck... barely any brakes... but aside from brake pads, one alternator, one battery and oil changes (which I am lazy and change on mileage, not every 3 months) it's been perfectly reliable. I live downtown and work from home, so not much point in upgrading.

I think you are talking about the 4 door because my 5 door is like a station wagon. My mpg isn't that good in the city- maybe 27. I was commenting on Hwy.

I work at home, too CAMB. :cop:

I had to go pick up 6 pallets of shit the other day in my Ford F500 and I've never see 30 gallons of fuel disappear so fast. These little cars are great, I don't know how I'll ever acclimate back to a truck after getting used to these fuel burns. Which sucks because next year I'll need to get a truck to fill the the middle of the road in my car fleet. Not looking forward to it. It's too bad my little rice grinder can't carry pipes, pallets or random equipment.

Those new ecoboost F150s are supposed to get pretty good mileage I think. Maybe not if you're hauling tons of crap around - if that's the case then a diesel is probably a better idea.

Yeah, it has to be diesel. I gotta haul tractors on a jump trailer from field to field. We farm different out west. We have dotage buildings in town where tractors, tools, implements etc are stored and all the shit is hauled to the fields from there.

I wouldn't dare leave a piece of equipment out on an unlit property with no fence. Might get a penis spray painted on it or vandalized.

I got almost 30 in stop and go and 34 on the highway. Though I think that number is conservative because a lot of new accord owners are reporting 40+ on the highway.

Don't worry when I'm out and about I just double park it.

i know i know.

honda > kia in every sense.

but the general idea, and we'll see how far this goes, is that she wants to get it herself, pay the payments etc. my car is in my name, she wants one in hers. so if that happens, i guess it would be up to her but i will try to persuade her to the best of my ability/genitals.

she digs the element though too. the soul is one of those things she saw, liked, and fixated on. like said genitals. i just have to snap her out of it.

Well, the Soul costs what, $5? Let her get it, then when she hates it because its a POS, have her trade out to the element. You'll lose like $2 on the deal.
