Any era/genre, of course.
Mine
Not simply because he died 27 years ago today, but just a sweet tune.

Good calls, fretless. "Since I've been Loving You" is one of my favorite tunes of any style.
Ry, "Melissa" is awesome, but if I have to hear "Angel" one more time I'm gonna lose my shit.
Scorps ballads are always good too.
:thu: "Still Loving You" will forever remind me of my GF when I was in Jr high.

Children of the Sea--great choice Grimes! Would Sign of the Southern Cross be considered a ballad? Also, I've never heard that Anthrax tune--sounds like a lost Warrant track.

and the acoustic version of this song is amazing. Just him and a 12 string.

Not sure if this completely meets the criteria of "ballad" (has fairly heavy intro, but does do the clean stuff when the vox come in) - John Bush has such an amazingly powerful voice

Fuck, Grimes! You posted a bunch of my favorite shit there, not to mention, I'd sling the entire ToD album up there. Funny, Seattle is winning this thread. Maybe it's because we're all depressed.
