Apparently Peavey took a stab at high end studio gear in the 90's and made an all tube stereo mic preamp. They're pretty well regarded so I've searched for them on and off over the past year. I've seen a lot sell for $700-1000, which just seems absurd for a Peavey. I snagged this guy for $400.
Super clear sounding preamp with a fuck ton of gain. Haven't messed with it a ton but initial impressions are very positive.

Yeah dude! I'll be taking it to my buddy's studio and doing some a/b clips. I bought an xlr splitter so I can record the same source with the preamp and without simultaneously.

my original plan was a bit ambitious since I couldn't settle on a song section to record and I'm lazy
I did do a guitar clip though
I bought an XLR splitter so this is the exact same riff recorded 2 ways. First is straight into on of the Focusrite preamps, second is using the Peavey.
