Overkill is definitely one of the best live bands I've seen.

Taking Over and Feel the Fire are both awesome. I didn't like Hello From the Gutter for whatever reason :idk:

I've played with them a few times. At one point, during the Horrorscope/I Hear Black years, they were pretty much living here, since the guitar players at the time lived here.

Always loved that band, but they are a nightmare to open for. At least their crew were major dicks. Complete lack of respect. One time they used up all the power on the stage and the stage manager told us we could not unplug anything. Well.... ummmmmmmm. he just shrugged his shoulders and said "Figure it out or leave. I don't give a fuck". I was about to leave when their light guy, who was super fucking cool, found an extension cord and brought us power from the behind the bar.

Having opened for them twice, it's pretty much their usual. They are complete dicks to local openers. Always have been.

That particular show, i was packing up my gear to just leave when the light guy decided to help out. He was cool as hell. Hung with us a bit after the show and shit.

These kinds of stories bug the crap out of me. I like Overkill but just because they have been in the (almost) Big 10 for the past 40 years doesn't mean they should be a-holes to the local talent :wank:

And this was the time when Sebastian and Rob (both from my hometown) were playing guitar. I got the timeline above wrong. It was after "I hear black". Overkill wasn't fucking shit. They were all living here with Sebastian because they weren't shit. Bobby was a cock. DD was always kind however. I have seen Overkill at least 6 times. many with the original lineup and DD would always hang around the crowd and shoot shit with the fans.

I digress... TL;DR: They were being assholes at a time when they amounted to nothing in the music scene. Their crew and most of the band were complete cocks while DD and their lighting guy were cool as fuck. :)

^I had a big drought of enjoyment with them. Years of Decay was the last thing they did until Ironbound where I dug the crap out of it. Those between years stuff just didn't trip my trigger at all.

That live vid was pretty cool.

But holy fuck do I hate this song. Which, as a songwriter myself, even if u evoke hate out of the listener you are still accomplishing something, IMO. Some of my favorite band reviews, back when that was a thing, were the total hate reviews. Lol..

But yeah, this song sucks, and I think his vocals still suck in this vid, just not total suck... Suck

Sucks that they were douchers! I loved/hated doing "national" gigs. Was great for the crowds but could be a total nightmare dealing with their crews. Genitorturers were awful!

I have a friend who does some pretty good sized shows and his comment is, "the music biz will never reward you for being nice so you end up with a pretty high percentage of dicks at that level."

DD is pretty much the only decent human being in the band but I still loves me their brand of good ol' American thrash.

Bobby was nothing but cool to me. But that was probably because I was 16 and younger than his son.

I saw them open for Motorhead and Slayer back around 1988 I think, and Overkill just about got booed off stage. At the time I thought it was funny because I wasn't really into them until Horrorscope.
