Schenker.

Post by Reverse Entropy »

I didn't need to say anything else did I ? One word and you know.

This one put a smile on my face. The last verse starts at 4:01 if you want to just see the highlights.

One name says it all. I've been way late to the party - never understood all the hype about him until I finally grew up in these last few years

Solo at 2:48 is worth a listen, too :thu:

He's played smaller local venues near me the last couple years, and I keep missing him. I really want to go see him, bad.

Only thing, though - it makes my back hurt watching him play all hunched over. He's been doing it since the 70s. How the hell???

Anyway... definitely a fan of the German hard rock musicians coming out of the mid- to late-70s - those guys (both Shenkers, Hoffman, et al) seriously kill it :thu:

Just a headbangin' riff. Try not to sprain anything.

I am also late to the Michael Schenker 'party' lol but the doood is a total bad ass riff machine on the guitar

BTW this album has some really good playing on it, the thing is that hes sooo melodic and tasty as a player, he is a natural talent on guitar, i watched a live video and the guy didnt hit a bad note the whole time, if your a fan of guitar playing you gotta like Schenker

Yep, that album has some amazing guitar on it. Not to mention tone for days.

And if you haven't seen it, this blazing, solo rendition of Rock Bottom is proof that he doesn't even need the rest of the band :rawk:

Lead insanity starts at 1:37 thru 5:50.

He's the guy that got me to actually sit down with a Gibson style flying V, and see how comfortable that shape is, and probably one of the "voices" that pushed me towards Marshall as well.

Strangers in the Night is a must listen for any aspiring rock/metal guitar player

I ***think*** he used Super Distortions until his signature pickups. I was going to get one for the bridge of my V before I got a 500t.

That's what I was thinking. It seems like the Super Distortion is at the heart of many bands I loved from the late 70s / early 80s.

Riff gave me one - I need to install it in the LP & see what she's made of.
