1-wire mod for super lead 100w 1959 circuit

Post by mdc1 »

Hi,

Can anyone point me to concise info on that 1-wire mod for the 1959 circuit (cascaded). Understand that there may
be differences in the approach toward application of the mod as well as some other tweaks and enhancements to switch it in and out of the circuit and tune the pre-amp voicing to control any muddiness from the gain.

Started my search over at metroamp but sadly looks like the forum is gone now...

This is with a switching pot:

The 47K and 2000pf cap across it on the switch are just example values, either can be tweaked to taste. The 47K forms a voltage divider with the 470K mixer preceeding it, so allows the mod to be "tamed", avoid over the top distortion or unmusical blocking distortion. The 2000pf cap can just be removed/omitted if desired, or tweaked to taste to roll off some highs and help stabilize the amp.

I always negate the recommended 1 meg resistor on the mixers as some one wire mods suggest. Also if it is too grainy for you try a 220k resistor off of the wiper of the Treble pot.
