Wolf Hoffman (Accept) Solo record

Post by DoubleBarrel »

Not sure about this.

Always dug Accept and Wolf's playing and tones, but it's just not grabbing me. I love the original of this tune from Fantasia.

What say you GAB ?

Yeah they are, but it's weird seeing a single coil in a V

For me the problem is the rhythm section. Not everything needs to be blenderized into sixteenth note chugga-chugga. They were being original with the strings being in metalhead mode, they needed the drums and bass to do the reverse and play something with some thought behind it.

Considering that Hoffmann is a BRILLIANT transcriptionist (seriously, his skills are profound), I'm surprised the rhythm section was left to be so simplistic.

A skilled performance, at least. Just not what I hoped for.

Ugh... I hate when metal bands / artists that I love try to blend symphony with their stuff.

I'm a huge Hoffmann fan. The instrumental break in this song is about the close to the Classical stuff as I could take

I'm trying to think of a single time when it didn't suck, and failing. :idk: :nlisten:

At best, when it's a band practically made for the symphonic treatment (Pink Floyd, Yes, Deep Purple, etc.), it's "meh, still sounds like you, only more boring."

At worst, it's laughable and insulting. Metallica's S&M was bad, but compared to Scorpions' Moment of Glory, and whatever the fuck the KISS one was called, it might as well have been actual Mozart.

I don't hate but I expected better coming from him. It's ok. Definitely not at the level of his Accept stuff, not even close.
