5150iii foot controller mod

Post by JiveTurkey »

Not sure how much of a mod this is; but I did this last night and I thought I would share. Hopefully this isn't my BL80 :cop:  :

Floor switches weren't working prior to this. Ended up being a loose ribbon cable that caused most of the buttons not to work. I opened it up, reattached and viola! Was going to go rack mount effects but I am glad I saved the money I didn't have and fixed it myself.

After thinking about how I want to use it, for both amp and effects control; I decided to open it up and do some tweaking.

I pulled the top row of buttons off of the Floor unit and mounted the MS4 (4 button footswitch) on top. The bottom row of buttons is for patch&amp channel selection (Clean, Crunch 1&2; Lead 1&2). The MS4 (4 button footswitch along the top) is in stompbox mode to select the individual pedals as necessary.

The external housing of the MS4 is a built-in riser for those buttons; so button access is really good. I got both of these very cheap, and to be honest; I am kind of proud of myself for thinking of it haha :)

Onboard expression pedal controls the volume on my guitar synth.

I am lost, I see Fender footswitches, how do they control a 5150III?

I posted this elsewhere but forgot the single most important detail. Mustang Floor multi-effects unit is midi capable, as is the 5150iii 50 watt head. I go out from the floor--->Roland GR33--->5150iii

With a click of one of the bottom row of footswitches, it will simultaneously change amp channels, effects combinations and guitar synth presets. The mounted 4 button switch at the top of the Mustang Floor turns individual effects on and off (as well as changing patch banks). Built in expression pedal is a volume controller for the guitar synth. This post sank like a rock so I forgot it even existed
