Resetup my shit.

Post by GAS KING »

Fuck using my BFSR for the heavy.

Went back to a hybrid version of my initial rig idea.

Agile 3100 LP
Mojotone JTM45 clone
Vox 2x12 with emi wizard and tonker (high efficiency)
Pedalboard: Old POG>DOD fx17>Mesa BottleRocket>Zvex SHO>Tortuga Martini>Ibanez DE7>TU2

Initially, I had issues with the Mesa pedal being noisy. Replaced the tubes and got an official power supply. Seems to be okay now. Go figure.

SHO for a solo boost.

Pickup positions for various tones from distortion to muffy fuzz.

If I had a bigger pedal board. I'd definitely have a boost/OD, and replace the DE7 with a headrush.

Pretty much variations on the same theme.

With the laney aor100 coming in, this will all probably change.

No clips of the rig. my recording set up isn't up and running, and this setup is subject to change constantly.

I would have used that rig this entire time, had I hadn't had issues with the Mesa pedal being noisy (more like BUUBUUBUZZZZZUUZUZUZZZZZ).

It's the perfect combination of thick distortion with a fuzz character.

Laney is going to change the whole thing... that amp has all the gain and tone you need so it should be a lot easier

That's what I'm hoping for.
Although, I have no clue. I had the 30w combo for a while, but it didn't get much use.
The seller said it's in good working condition, but who knows how old the tubes are, or if it needs a good cleaning.
I won't be taking something I don't trust to gigs.

Clearing up some board space for other cool things will be nice. The POG and Mesa take up 1/2 of my board. :-q

I really need the solo boost. Do you think I'll have to run that in the loop? or will the SHO out front work?

out front if you need a gain boost
through the loop if you need an actual volume boost
it will work either way.

Ooo.... http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f36/how-u ... st12917467

It is pretty dark.
I've used it with success as a bass preamp in the past!
Opening up the treble on this pedal would be GREAT.

sometimes i have to stop and remember that some people use pedals to get the right tone from their amp and not just to make crazy space noises. weird.

Do what I did at the weekend; take three cables of equal length, colour code each end then tape them together with electrical tape. Treat as one cable from that point on.

Yeah, that's what I was doing when I was using the TOL100, but that was a 3 cable bundle (lead, FX Loop in/out) and 2 cable bundle for the footswitch.

pita.

....but I suppose. If that's what I have to do to make it work.

i have one. im saying people needing the pedals for their amp to sound good. sucks. all my pedals are for sound effects, including fuzz. the clean and gain tones by themselves are pedal free. i dig that. i dont need a boost, comp, od, etc. to get the gain tone i like. i have a boost in the loop for loudness during solos, but thats it. not necessary at all.

Well, with a single channel amp, and the need for high gain............the only practical choice are pedals.

I like pedals for tone into a decent clean amp, it's just different to amp gainz. Sometimes one wins, sometimes the other.

The TOL100 is the only multi-channel amp that I've found with a truly wonderful clean channel. So good, that it could be used as a single channel amp.

Others I've tried just don't sound very lively. Useable, no doubt, but lackluster.

Some had good clean channels, but then their dirt channels are worthless.
