What is your "desert island album?"

Post by Telephant »

I realize this is a bullshit question, and will also change depending on your mood but for grins lets entertain the idea.

I think for me it would probably be ZZ Top's First Album.

On a side note, how terrible would it be if you were stranded on an island with nothing to listen to but Jimmy Buffet?!? Thats my nightmare.

Fuck.

It would be between Paranoid, the Beano album, and Abbey Road at this moment... Any of those three would work. If I had to pick one it would be the Beano album.

I can't even fathom the Jimmy Buffet part. I think that would be hell.

It would definitely suck to only have one album available for the rest of your life, regardless of how awesome it is

But I'd probably have to go with Richie Kotzen's Mother Heads Family Reunion :rawk:

I could roll with you on Beano and Abbey Road. Abbey Road is masterpiece IMO. I love Black Sabbath too but not sure I would pick any of their albums. I have always wanted to cover Fairies Wear Boots though. :D

At this very moment, The Real Kids-No Place Fast.

If my anniversary edition of Couldn't Stand the Weather with the extra disc of live stuff would count, it would be that.
Analogman / Bludotone / Bogner / Fargen / Fender / G&L / JAM Pedals / King Tone / RMC / Skervesen / Strymon / Vertex

Are you really?

They aren't necessarily a band for everyone. But I think you can understand the brilliance.

Plus, Rich Gilbert is my all time favorite guitar player and that whole set is a testament to the almighty Blackface Bassman through Greenbacks.

They covered miles of sonic ground. My favorite tune comes in right at the 30 miunte mark. Called "Totem Pole". Real slow alt-spacey that turns into a fucking bizarro prog jam. There you will understand the force of Thine Bassman.

Right after that is my all time Zulus fave, "Kings In The Queen City".

The whole set is completely mind blowing.

I'm gonna cheat and say either James Taylor's Greatest Hits, or Rush: Chronicles.

As much as I'm a metal dude at heart, I have a soundtrack of favorites that plays through my head constantly if there's not something really good going on already. So, to break up the monotony, I'd pick Loreena McKennitt - Book of Secrets. Plenty of musical chops, but different enough to break my mind out of endless repeat 80s thrash.

Yeah Abbey Road covers so much ground - I haven't gotten bored of that album in over 35 years so I think it would work on a loop.
