Post by GuitarBilly »

What a fucking masterpiece of an album that is.... There are very few albums are that good from beginning to end, IMHO. Everything about it is perfection, tones, songs, playing, singing etc etc...

I've been listening to it all day so I am going to be playing my strat tonight
Guitars:
'78 Les Paul Pro / '89 SG Special/ '04 Gibson Les Paul Classic 3 pickup / Jackson Star/ Endres Tele / Fernandes Rhoads/ ''74 Hohner MIJ strat/ 2 Partscasters

Amps:
Depends on when you ask. I got tired of constantly updating this section lol

Cabs
Marshall 1960A w V30s/ Seismic 2x12 w Redback and V30.

Understatement. Highway Star and Lazy are staples of classic rock and required listening for any guitarist.

One good thing about being a teenager in the late '70's was seeing Deep Purple 12th row center at Nassau Coliseum!!! :rawk:
They had some of the most well crafted tunes ever.

Word! Had to listen to the whole album last night (as well as Burn, Perfect Strangers, Best of ...) and ended up listening to many of the songs more than once. Have always loved Blackmore's angst laden neo classical solo phrasing and wankerage.

No shit - and I believe the whole album was written AND recorded in about three weeks. Not to mention the hotel they were staying in burned down in the middle of it all
(Smoke on the Water) and they had to finish with the Rolling Stones mobile unit.

(some details incorrect I'm sure)

gonna have to give this a whirl tomorrow on the way to a job interview. Been too long since I listened to it. I feel its weird that my favourite Deep Purple is MK3 and 4 haha.

Can't get enough of that Glenn Hughes...
