If an employer asks for that kind of access, you don't want to work for them. Politely refuse and if they insist tell them they'll be hearing from your attorney, stand up and leave. There are lots of jobs out there, you don't need that one.
Lol, I actually thought about setting up a twitter for my foreman. He's like ozzy from Adam Corolla's shows. Always has some broken English smart ass response with a drunk sounding cackle right after. I thought it'd be funny if our buyers could see the hilarious shit I gotta deal with on a daily basis. The dude is money. Fucking guy trolls me all day and night. I hope I neve lose him lol
a lot of police departments are requiring it...at one point there was a PD in TX requiring you give them all social media logins, back account info/login info, credit card login info, any forums you were on, any e-mail logins and so on. From what I've heard they now only ask for social media and bank info.
Remember this next time we hear someone bashing unions or the ACLU. Most times the ones doing the bashing are either misinformed or have a vested interest or are getting paid/lobbying for big corporations. I know unions and occasionally the ACLU are not perfect but we would be fucked without someone watching our backs. Most Americans are just to stupid or ignorant to give a shit that more and more of our rights slip away each day. The crazy thing about these employers asking passwords is that its not like its just a position at the FBI or NASA , its shit like a job at pep boys
I can somewhat understand in some cases if they want to see your Facebook page, in terms of just what anyone can see.
But no one'll see shit on my page unless they're a friend, and I've very selectively added only a few people on mine. It's not even like I'm posting fucked up crazy nutbag shit on there or anything. I'm just not interested in any random cunt being able to just look at whatever I've put on there. And if no random cunt can see your shit, I'm not sure why an employer should need to be able to see any further than that. It'd be like if before the days of Facebook 'n' shit, an employer asking to go through your private mail, look through your photo albums, maybe have a chat with all your friends and family. No, dickhead. Here's my CV, we'll have an interview, if you want to talk to some people, I'll give you some professional references. You don't need to know about what goes on in my private life. What's next? Post-interview you have to wear a small video camera for a week so they can see and hear what goes on in your private life away from Facebook? I've got fuck all on my FB, but if any potential employer wanted my login I'd walk away on principle.
But if you're posting up retarded shit for everyone to publicly see, then yeah I can understand an employer maybe deciding they don't like what they see. But if you've put it up publicly for anyone to see it's your own damn fault.

Credit Card Logins????
WTF do they need that for? I mean a background check will show them your credit rating, but giving them the ability to gain acsess to your bank accounts, just makes no sence what so ever.
"Oh, by the way, can we get the key to your Mailbox?" "Sir, we will also need to sift through your trash.................."

Yeah, bank and credit card login info seems a tad ridiculous.

I think they got everything out of DJ Chrispy when he got busted again.
One of the Tech Support guys here got let go because of something he tweeted. I believe our HR Dept. looks at Facebook/Twitter accounts when screening new applicants as well.

Use aliases for social media.
Or just keep dumbass comments to yourself. I dunno why people feel the need to express ridiculous political/religious/party info on social media.

That's the thing, they aren't just looking up your Facebook page and viewing it, they require you give your passwords so they can view your private messages, emails, etc. it's very un American .
