My buddy and I got together to jam on some kind of stonery garage jams I've been working on. Just me on guitar and him on drums in my cover band's practice space. I decided it was time to get ridiculous.

Cabs: 2 Port City OS2x12 cabs (one with V30s, one with a Vet30 and ET-65)

I usually just use the Sunn, but picked up that lehle switcher in a trade and wanted to try it out. I probably won't keep it just because I don't have any need to switch between them...just a passive splitter would suit me fine.

The Gibson is a rad amp. I think it's based on a speed twin they reworked after they took over Trace Elliot. It's definitely my rock amp as opposed to the Sunn's super dark doom and gloom tone. I've used one to tour with in every band I've been in.

And the T-1000 there is all aluminum. I picked it up in a trade for a Les Paul a few months ago, which is funny because I had already put in an order for a custom EGC which I should be receiving in the next couple months.

The most impressive part is that all of that packed up and fit in my Mini Cooper.

I love that ECG. How is it compared to wood? Brighter? Snapier? Any down side in you opinion?

I personally think it fucking rules. This was a custom order with a much beefier neck than the razor-thin ones they usually make. It's a little neck-heavy because of that (and pretty damn heavy in and of itself), but nothing a leather strap and heavy coily cable can't correct. It definitely has its own feel as well. The hardest thing to get used to is the fretboard. Not having any wood means no friction on a bend. So it's really easy to go way overboard with that. Only other downside is that if it sits for a while in a cold room or car, it's REALLY FUCKING COLD. Also, as you would imagine, the mirrored aluminum finish is constantly covered in fingerprints.

The tone I feel is much more balanced than most guitars I've played. It gets a lot of highs because of the metal, but because of how dense it is and how the pickups are mounted directly into the neck instead of the body, it resonates like crazy and gets a ton of low end as well. It really sings out, and even as loud and fuzzed out as I play, the notes are really well-defined. Just a very smooth clean, transparent sound. You can only hear a "tinny" sound like you might anticipate when you play it unplugged.

I can't wait to get my custom order, because it's going to be a little lighter, with the standard thin neck, and have a maestro-style tremolo, which will make me a very happy camper. It also will have an anodized body instead of the polished mirror aluminum which means it won't be covered in fingerprints all the time.

Sounds awesome. I think I'll have to try one someday before committing but I've been very intrigued by these for quite some time now.

Nah we never decided to make the drive. That's a GA-60RV combo put in a headshell.
