Individual FX or stick with g-system?

Post by m3at »

Considering selling the g-system and going individual pedal route. yes/no? fx I use are delay, verb, wah, whammy, and sometimes chorus/phase...

The fx I use the most are delay and verb. The others I use occasionally.

If I go the pedal route, what suggestions do you have for at the very min, delay, verb, and wah.

I personnaly just sold most of my pedals to use a rack multi effect.
I started with floor multieffects, then individual pedals, and now I know I want a midi controlled multi effect.
The main reason is that I don't use loads of effects and I like the fact to set various settings for differents patches and not having to tweak anything live.
Now, let's guitarists with individual fx explain the other point of view :)

I've gone back and forth over the years. I've had two G-Systems and tons of pedals boards. I really like the idea of individual pedals, but I eventually go back to something like the G-System because it's so easy to use for both changing channels on my amp and having specific patches.

I dunno...maybe I'll do both and just mess around.

Multi-FX unit. Give me convenience or give me death.

I've gone full circle. I have used pedals for many years, then started using my GSP1101/control 2 and completely got away from pedals. The delays on the GSP1101 are what made me switch. Having different patches just made it seem like a better option. After a couple years I went back to pedals. I do miss the ease of use with the GSP1101 though. I still have it but haven't used it.

I like individual pedals because its easier to work out what each box is doing. It's also more modular so if you love your delay but your phaser sucks, you just look for a better phaser.

I do understand the multieffects thing though. Convenient and practical, there's a lot to be said for that live!

Fortunately my Mark IV has it's own pedal. I can turn the FX Loop on/off and kind of use that as a patch type of thing. But yeah, I'm still on the fence with this. The G-System is pretty fucking stellar.
