Bands were kinda competitive back in the day and The Who were critical of the others. So we should be just fine if we are critical of them. The best contribution they brought was Pete’s skill in mixing acoustic instruments with Electric instruments. Also his dedication to working and recording the early synths. Lots of work there. I can’t say a whole lot more though. The drummer was a hack and not even in the same league as many other drummers of the times. My opinion of course. He was a nut that caused a good bit of fuckery. John does deserve the praise he gets for My Generation. Ground breaking and influential bassline. No doubt about. But some of the worst tone and sloppiness in the world of Rock bass. Lol. Just stay calm Entwistle fans. Its true so deal with it. The singer ? There were far better of the era but he fit that group well. I’ll take The Faces , Zep , Cream just about every rockin British band that over the who. Because the who suck. IMO of course . Cherio

I love to hate on the Who as much as the next guy, but calling Keith Moon a hack is taking it too far. He was a crazed maniac, who was probably a blast to party with. He may not have been at the level of John Bonham, Phil Rudd, Tommy Aldridge, Randy Castillo, Aynsley Dunbar, Bill Ward, Terry Bozzio, Kenny Aronoff or Cozy Powell, but he would have wiped the floor with 99% of the profesional drummers you put up against him.

he was a over playing busy slasher , often hitting sticks and mishitting drums because he was shitty at his craft . Just my opinion and IMO a hack . Not meant to be fighting words but yeah he sucked as did The Who .

The Who are great and Pete's no pedo. I'm not gonna get into it with the trolls.

If you have child porn on your PC you’re a fucking pedo. I’m not trolling dude. Get real.

Well to be fair you guys highjacked and pounded this thread in order to get such a reaction. Pedo or not, that's what trolling is.

I agree, but it doesn't take 3 pages to make the point.
I was kinda wondering wtf was up with the arc of this thread. Makes sense now. You even brought it up long before he posted.

So this was unknown to me. I don’t have the history with this issue on previous threads or whatever the forum baggage is on this issue.
I for one am really glad Dave came in here to be himself. There’s an authenticity to cutting right through a cool illustration and reminding everyone that it’s a “cool illustration” of a pedophile and his bandmates.
Seriously fuck anyone who was caught with child porn on their PC. I hope this thread goes 20 more pages where I get to pop in here and say, “Nah… fuck that kiddie porn having pedo. P.S. anyone denying or making excuses for it fucking blows. Sometimes your childhood guitar heroes are gross beyond redemption and you should move on.”

I guess the story is that Jeff Beck hated Rod Stewart and perhaps vice versa.

We all knew Pete was a pedo when he was busted in 2003.
As much as I'd like to tell myself that, the Live at Leeds album was recorded before Pete became a pedo, I haven't been able to listen to it without the thought passing through my mind.
There aren't many crimes worse than crimes against children.
Paying to view a kiddie porn site only supports this criminal activity and Pete should have received harsher punishment.
Unlike thousands of Catholic priests, Pete was lucky... he got busted before he had a chance to act on his desires.
Had he seduce any kids, they would have come forth by now... unless he paid them off.
However, even if he didn't reape any kids, it does not make listening to the Leeds album any less weird for me.
I still love the album. Too bad Pete fucked up... and yeah, fuck him.
That being said, I can't help but think that, for good or bad, some people really enjoy showing their ePeen at any opportunity.

I’d rather be a woman beater toadie than a pedo apologist to be quite honest. Honestly not a hard line to decide which side I’m standing on.

where have I defended Pete? The answer is I haven't. But you're defending a self confessed woman beater. Is that a hill you're willing to die on?
