What a great illustration of The Who.

Post by mortatone »

Found this bit of art today. It's going in my studio someday… about 3-4 years from now. I have a little dream of building a free recording studio. We have the land, some of the gear, a little bit of the money, alot of determination and a plan.

It's an Anthony Parisi print. This size 18x24 print goes new on his site for $300. The framing and matting would be on top of that for the original buyer. I like how the matting job extends the union jack that's in the illustration. Pretty slick

I had emailed the artist and this was his reply. Pretty cool. And it does have a sticker on the back for that particular framing shop. I had only included a photo of the front.

Hey Jeff,

Yep, that’s on of my illustrations, and it looks like you might have a rare print.
Judging by the frame, it looks like a piece that I had in the WMGK Classic Rock Art Show in 2008.
The Union Jack matting was done by Coll’s Custom Framing in Conshohocken, PA.
By 20013, I stopped closing in my background elements in that black wood-cut look, and switched to having the entire illustration fill corner to corner.
There is no number since I had just one printed at that size for the art show.
Where did you acquire it from.

Thanks for reaching out.

Yeah, it's supposed to be blood.

If you ever watched his windmill "strums", you too would wonder how he didn't have the bloodiest hands in the business.

He must have used a pick the size of a Dorito, like Carlos Santana did (no Hispanic slur here, check it out)

The Who were always a bit meh for me and even more so as I get older.

Was Pete really into child porn? If that’s a thing it’ll pretty much seal the deal.

https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-19876936

Yup. He got busted paying for child porn, then claimed he was doing "research" and shouldn't be charged. The alleged research was undocumented, performed alone in his private home, and no one else was aware of the alleged experiment. The police officer tasked with the investigation wrote him a letter within days of the arrest saying he knew Pete wasn't guilty which is kind of bizarre to offer unsolicited opinions to the offender before completing the investigation. He used his celebrity status and significant assets/influence to avoid going to court, took a slap on the wrist of 5 years on the sex offender registry, and still claims he was innocent. Overtime he claimed he was trying to expose big banks' role in child porn.

These days he further dilutes the issue by claiming he was diagnosed with cancer after he was caught, and had he not been arrested he wouldn't have scheduled his colonoscopy that caught the issue. Play to people's emotional side while continually avoiding consequences.

Form your own opinion on this guy. Personally I feel he's a pedo that got caught in 2003 before celebrities faced any real consequences for crime. Putting an extremely wealthy celebrity on a sex crime list for 5 years doesn't really hurt the celebrity. they're rich enough to navigate around that with ease. He didn't even go to court, let alone face any consequences.
