Yes, AORs are notoriously unreliable but the issues are really easy to fix permanently. I used to have a list of things that should be replaced on a stock AOR for improved reliability, I don't have it anymore, but it's just a few caps and resistors that need to be upgraded and the amp is fine. Ask about it at the Laney Posse forum, they know their shit there.

My suggestion would be to take it to a good tech to give it a complete overhaul and some preemptive maintenance. That's if you like the tone and want to keep the amp.

I think I've read nearly everything over at the laney posse forum, but I haven't seen anything about preventative mods, as much has I've read about tonal tweaks.

I'm no tech, but I've gone through as much as I know how.........and you're right. If I end up digging it I'll probably replace the filter and bias caps, as if it were done in '93......that's still 20 years ago.

The clipping the bright cap on the pot really helped.

Also, I found out the the footswitch doesn't switch on the AOR channel, it switches the preamp 1 on and off. Or switches between the preamp levels.
So no clean/ dirty via footswitch.

What I ended up doing was using a boss line selector.
Set the amp for moderate gain, AOR on.
Set channel A on the LS real low, and set channel B full up.

Works great actually.
Dirty cleans and full out high gain.

Also keeps the preamp level 1 set at a manageable level.

It seems real fucked up the footswitch doesn't turn on and off the AOR channel, like the push/pull does.
Unless its my footswitch?

Ah, apparently the LED in the footswitch causes issues.

You know what...after a year of owning this amp, I've never thought about this.
I decided to plug my broken POS Dano FishNChips into the Loop.

HOLY SHITBALLS! Fucking amazing!!!! I need a better EQ because this little POS Dano keeps crapping out on me.
But the EQ tightens everything up and tames the highs and lows a lot!
