Too bad I only have Live at Leeds and Quadrophenia because, they won't make much of a fire. Prolly only last long enough to toast one marshmallow.

don't feel too bad many of our old rockers were pedos , Pete just did more research on the subject .

Jimmy Page too

I can separate the art from the artist.

Not all The Who fans can do so. Some of their more supportive fans defend Pedo Pete with all kinds of mental gymnastics.

Was Pete really into child porn? If that’s a thing it’ll pretty much seal the deal.

https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-19876936

Yup. He got busted paying for child porn, then claimed he was doing "research" and shouldn't be charged. The alleged research was undocumented, performed alone in his private home, and no one else was aware of the alleged experiment. The police officer tasked with the investigation wrote him a letter within days of the arrest saying he knew Pete wasn't guilty which is kind of bizarre to offer unsolicited opinions to the offender before completing the investigation. He used his celebrity status and significant assets/influence to avoid going to court, took a slap on the wrist of 5 years on the sex offender registry, and still claims he was innocent. Overtime he claimed he was trying to expose big banks' role in child porn.

These days he further dilutes the issue by claiming he was diagnosed with cancer after he was caught, and had he not been arrested he wouldn't have scheduled his colonoscopy that caught the issue. Play to people's emotional side while continually avoiding consequences.

Form your own opinion on this guy. Personally I feel he's a pedo that got caught in 2003 before celebrities faced any real consequences for crime. Putting an extremely wealthy celebrity on a sex crime list for 5 years doesn't really hurt the celebrity. they're rich enough to navigate around that with ease. He didn't even go to court, let alone face any consequences.

Pretty much this. If a normal dude made these claims he’d be getting fucked in the cornhole daily in prison.

I can usually separate art from artists. In this case where I barely enjoyed the art anyway it’s the deciding factor.

In this case I dislike the art and the artist.

There was a certain vocal Townshend fan on this forum that relentlessly defended the pedo. Claimed it was properly investigated and PT was punished meaning it was now settled business. Still believed Townshend's claim that he was researching big banks' role in child porn and it was in no way inappropriate.

it's a very long list , those guys didn't ask for I.D. and they were too fucked up to care . Dude.... Live at Leeds and Quadrophenia are EPIC!!!

so I was right , maybe 2 songs the rest was trash :call:

ummmmmmmmm, Live at Leeds and Quadrophenia were double albums......(not sure about Leeds)

Couldn't care less if Pete was a pedo, I stand by their music.

OK, on second thought, ewwwwwwww on the pedo thing.

BUT there was some strange shit going on in England then.

The cover of one of Blind Faith albums released in Europe was of a topless (looked like a 13 year old) girl.

Very freaky.

I can remember seeing some old Benny Hill shows, and the English have a very very :freak: :freak: :freak: sense of humor......

Basically, I'm against child porn, I like The Who, and I don't understand the British.............

Who knows wtf went on behind closed doors. It's reasonable to assume that some dudes were more respectful than others in their actions and that some were just complete fucking assholes. I wasn't there for any of it so can't really go 'all in' on any of the accused, but some were probably sketch and unstable as fuck and treated women like shit. Guys that get shitty with their women friends can fuck all the way off.

Child porn on your PC and (possibly) not knowing that a groupie is under age are completely different levels of pedo.

It baffles me that he got away with this and that people defend him over it. Ain't a queue of people lining up to defend Gary Glitter...

It shouldn’t be too shocking the lads threw on their best dresses for a sat night out in Soho but yeah. Wtf. We had very different childhoods lol. So let’s talk about the band. Bands were kinda competitive back in the day and The Who were critical of the others. So we should be just fine if we are critical of them. The best contribution they brought was Pete’s skill in mixing acoustic instruments with Electric instruments. Also his dedication to working and recording the early synths. Lots of work there. I can’t say a whole lot more though. The drummer was a hack and not even in the same league as many other drummers of the times. My opinion of course. He was a nut that caused a good bit of fuckery. John does deserve the praise he gets for My Generation. Ground breaking and influential bassline. No doubt about. But some of the worst tone and sloppiness in the world of Rock bass. Lol. Just stay calm Entwistle fans. Its true so deal with it. The singer ? There were far better of the era but he fit that group well. I’ll take The Faces , Zep , Cream just about every rockin British band that over the who. Because the who suck. IMO of course . Cherio
