Used to be a huge SW fan. Episodes I-III were.. disappointing. The new Disney SW was like pop music. Not excited.

I agree. The fact that it was darker than the other Star Wars films really made it work, in my opinion. I've seen people bash it because all the main characters die at the end, but to me, that's part of what made it good. Especially when you realize that they were trying to give you the back story of how the Rebellion got their hands on the plans for the Death Star, and we all remember the classic line from Star Wars about a lot of good people dying to get the plans to the Rebellion.

Sure they probably aren't continuing the story in the same way that was planned but they're not bring snoke back, etc
Agreed. Seems like the only major retconning they may do is make Rey a Skywalker. That said, I'm kind of afraid they're going to pull a Return of The Jedi and have Rey save Kylo in the end.
This is what I think they will do. I've read that there is a certain type of storytelling that follows sort of a mirrored cycle, and that's what Lucas had planned all along. And if you look at TFA, and TPM, they are both like ANH, where some new kid is "discovered" and saves the day, (Anakin by pod racing and destroying the trade federation ship, Luke by destroying the death star, Rey escaping capture on Starkiller, and being integral to finding Luke), etc.
Then, the 2nd movie kind of leaves things up in the air, and you have a little bit of light side/dark side indecision, (Anakin, Luke, Rey/Kylo), so, I think they will wrap this up a lot like ROTJ, (did you notice the similar titles (Revenge/Return/Rise) of the 3rd movies)?

Yeah but IIRC none of that is canon anymore?!?
TFA was alright but it was such a rehash of A New Hope. TLJ surprised the fuck out of me and subverted a bunch of shit I never thought they would do. EJ is right about the casino subplot - probably should have been reworked, but it didn't ruin the movie for me. My other complaint about TLJ was the lack of backstory on Snoke. I liked that Kylo killed him, but I would have liked to know a bit more about him.
Here's the funny part about that. What exactly did you know about The Emperor, in ESB? Nothing. Darth Vader was the main villian in ANH, and then this Emperor appears and is the one in charge, all of a sudden.

Can't wait for this! I dug TFA/TLJ quite a bit. Also, with the Emperor laughing... how would anyone not at least expect him to come back in Force/Spirit Form like Yoda, Obi Wan? That was the first thing I thought when i heard the laugh.
My hope is that there is NO redemption for Kylo

This. Duh.
Also in the Rogue One is the best movie camp. Its just got an awesome (gritty) feel to it.
Either way will watch this new one at some point, haven't been in love with the new trilogy so far but having grown up with Star Wars I pretty much have to keep in touch until it brings no joy what so ever.

This.... I really don't want to see another Darth Vader deal where in the last minute they have a change of heart and save the day.... been there done that.... I want to see Kylo go full darkside and Rey have to square off with him... loose a leg maybe because loosing a hand is soooooo 80s....
