...also I got on a mini 311-kick after my Omaha Stylee post. They do have some good jams. The rapper is by far the weak link if we're being serious. They just put out a cover of Self-Esteem by the Offspring (horrid band) that was almost good in it's reinvention until that moron attempted to sing the chorus.

Right. They were like training wheels for Pop Punk.

The Ramones are the only necessity in that sub-genre.

You don't know what you're talking about. They get played at every hockey game. They are the sounds of Crazy Taxi on Sega Dreamcast. They have a song about Slim Pickens. Offspring rule.

Loop wrote:1. That ovation he's playing is DOPE.

2. Morello has always sounded unique, which makes him awesome to me. I'd hear this and know it was him immediately.

3. The song is weak lyrically and vocally, but musically it sounds like late RATM, and I like that.

I was searching for words for my reaction; then I read your post and realized I didn't need to. Loop already captured it ~ especially the bolded bit, but really all three points. Yeah. :thu:

Despite a million debates raging in his head over string guage, pickup height, Pete Townshend's sexual history, and pick material he makes his Shiva give up the goods. Plus his unplugged electric tone... well... it exists.

I went the opposite direction. After Gene posted the Hoax 2 I went down a fruit booter rabbit hole. Crazy the sport is basically dead now. Came across this documentary:

10 year old me will fight you. My first favorite band ever was Bad Religion. My first concert ever was Bad Religion. Put Bad Religion and Vanilla Ice in the same sentence again and you might find some white glove come across yo mouf.

311 has some solid, SOLID jams though.

Prophets of Rage has to be a troll job. Brilliant people making terrible music. For that I can applaud them.

At least Prophets of Rage actually rocked and played RATM songs. This solo Tom Morello is some gay ass fake beat bullshit with hack guitar trickery over it. It's basic bitch shit.

Forgot about my shitty 1999 nu-metal band and our 311 inspired reggae song. I'll post it when I find it.

To do rap metal in 2018 - I would want Eminem to write lyrics, then I transpose that to actual guitar riffs. Add Chris Adler to drums and Flavor Flav to just say yeah boy over and over. That shit would work hoe.
