For some reason I've been digging 80's TV show themes lately. Nostalgia  . The AirWolf theme in particular is totally badass!!

Was gonna bitch that most of the vids on this thread have already been taken down, only to find that it's a 2-1/2 year-old thread that's been mamberg'd

Well, since the thread has been resurrected, I'll chime in. I listened to Heart's Alive in Seattle on my way in to work today. I had goosebumps pretty much the entire drive, and a half-dozen times looked over at my stereo's display and muttered "holy fucking shit." The harmonies on "Alone."

She completely elevates their classic songs, not to mention doing two Led Zeppelin covers about 100x better than Robert Plant could do by the 2000s. (Not saying he can't sing anymore, but he sure can't sing "Black Dog" the same anymore.)

What kind of hard rock singer gets better in their 50s? (And FTR she still kills it in her 60s.) Ann Wilson is one of my very favorite singers.

If you don't like Heart, I don't know what to tell you. Um...hey look, it's Mike Inez on bass. Everyone here loves AIC. :idk:

Ok, fine... I'll play, too :thu:

Thin Lizzy's been getting a shit-ton of attention on my music player lately. What can be more GABarific than LP > Marshall? How 'bout 2 said rigs cranking out killer harmonized licks and runs?

...and if Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson don't exactly float your boat, don't forget that Gary Moore played a part in Thin Lizzy's history as well

^^^ Thin Lizzy is just beyond dope.

Over the summer, thanks to my newly loooooooooong commute, I got a Spotify Premium membership. (Side note: $15/month for my whole family to listen to pretty much any music ever recorded, anytime, anywhere? Yes please.)

Armed with three hours a day in my car and all the music in the world, I started deep diving on bands that I liked, but of which I had never really been a completist (everyone from Morbid Angel to ZZ Top to Hanoi Rocks), and Thin Lizzy was one of the first. I listened to everything they recorded, in order. And you know what? It's all pretty damn good. Even their "poorly-regarded" first couple of albums are full of great stuff. They clearly hadn't hit their stride as a guitar-hero band yet, or as composer/arrangers (some of the songs just go on too long and get boring), but Phil was a fantastic poet right from the jump, his voice is there already, and Brian Downey is one of my favorite drummers ever. (Side note #2: Imagine how much poorer the music world would be if Thin Lizzy had been dropped by their label, all the great music we might never have gotten. IMO, the biggest ill of the mainstream music business is the need, beginning in the mid-70s and growing ever since, for everything to be an immediate smash hit. What band today would get to make a fourth album after their first three flopped?)

The Gary Moore era is actually my least favorite. He might have been the most talented individual guitarist to pass through Thin Lizzy, with apologies to Sykes and Robertson, but the dual-guitar work - in other words, what made Lizzy unique and great - was best before he came along.

Agreed - by far. Robertson / Gorham was an unbeatable team.

Check out Black Star Riders, and if you can, catch a show. Scott Gorham is still leading the guitar effort, but he's getting up there in years. Saw them in a smallish sized club a couple years ago. The singer (Irish, I believe - as was Lynott) pulls off the Thin Lizzy vox pretty convincingly. Great new material, too.

I posted this on my "Wall" thread earlier. When I got seriously into Pink Floyd 2 years ago (especially thanks to this forum), I came across this - the last, true Pink Floyd show there will ever be. Brilliant performance - seriously. Can't believe how well they pull this off this killer set, having gotten together for the first time since Waters left in the 80s (I think).

EDIT: - hopefully this starts at the beginning - I've got a funky thing going on where the vid doesn't want to cooperate on my browser :(
If not, please ignore the dumass behind the curtain and kindly restart it from the beginning. One of the best 20 minute performances I've ever come across.

I didn't really like the way he played the early DP classics, but he and Glen Hughes were a great team. Come Taste The Band is one of my favorites.
