My buddy caught covid from a coworker. He's Ok but, no sense of smell or taste and he's go minor muscle pain.
He went to a local, walk-in clinic for a test and the queue was 4 hours! He tested positive and his wife tested negative.
I would expect that it was unsafe for him to go for the test but, whatchoo gunna do?
He and his wife are quarantining.

So about that testing - suppose you have been exposed - and get tested immediately - can you test negative, but still will develop it in the next few days??
I know that is the obvious, simple answer, but when actually should you get tested?

My understanding (correct me if I'm wrong) is that you can test negative right after exposure and develop symptoms after a few days and test positive.
I can only speak from my personal experience, but after my first confirmed exposure my employer required that I be tested either 5 or 6 days later.
edit: I forgot to mention that you can positive and be asymptomatic, but most know this by now.

Yeah they usually say the test is most reliable 5-6 days after possible exposure.

Test results back: P and I have it and our daughter and her BF (who live with us 4-6 days a week and have been here the whole time) are negative.
This is weird shit.

Mojo to everyone who gets it. A friend of mine is 35, healthy, strong and may die from it. He's been on a ventilator for 5 days, his body is rejecting it so he's going on an ECMO machine which takes over for the lungs and heart. Stay safe and strong everyone.

My step father now has it. He's in the hospital after things worsened after 5 days at home. Steroids were the first treatment he received. Hopefully, that's enough. This week has been fucking terrible. Didn't even tell you guys about the car accident I was in on Tuesday. I'm fine. Car is dead.

Mojo and prayers for your step father, Ryan and to Mike Oxhuge's buddy.
My friend, is on day 7 and he's starting to feel better. He said White Castle tasted like shit and after eating it, he was puking all night. Terrible headache for 6 days; so bad, he wanted to commit suicide. Body aches moved from his legs one day, to his back another day, to his hips, to his arms.
The doctor said there was nothing he could give him... no Walter Reid Hospital antibodies or steroids for the 99%.
The doctor did say that if he developed breathing issues, to go to the ER immediately.

I work with about 90 people of which 70 I interact with in person and regularly. We had a few positives from March to November (one fatality sadly) but we’ve gotten several within the last few weeks. It’s definitely ticked up and makes for rough situations.
We have a company wide shutdown every year for the holidays. I have 7 people who while on break either tested positive, we’re exposed to someone who tested positive, or are experiencing symptoms and are waiting to get tested. Tests are heavily booked all over the place so it takes a couple days to get a test.
Over our break I sent everyone a COVID screening questionnaire. Today I set up a table outside of the building where everyone lined up and submitted their answers before entering the building. One employee had tested positive over the break but was gonna come in to work anyway because he “had no symptoms”... pretended they didn’t get my questionnaire by mail

Oh the things people do...
