Indoors and outdoors.
And just to think I bought a Maryland flag camo neck gaiter last week

Yeah I wore gaiters throughout the whole thing and only pulled them up indoors.
I was really excited about my new camo gaiter though. I might keep wearing it just because lol

I was trying to convince my mask adverse conspiratorial hommies that the masks were great because it creates anonymity from facial recognition technology.

Its only anecdotal but I enjoy the stories of antimaskers/vaxxers wanting to mask up around vaccinated people

Well not banned but they don’t consider it a proper mask to meet their entry level employee code of approval.
The gaiter seems like it’d be more effective than the flimsy paper masks but whatever
Apparently I never got that memo. I used a gaiter the whole time and never had any issue. It's actually the first time I'm hearing they're banned.
Anyway, I'm about to walk into a store with no mask. Wish me luck

Juggalo face paint will work better. I read a article a few years ago summing up a study that found ICP face paint made facial recognition systems basically go "TILT"

This is a powerful counter argument

Considering the intellectual level we are speaking to, yes, it definitely is.

So there was a professor at Duke that did some tests to compare efficacies of different facial coverings. In his study they found that the specific neck gaiter they used produced more and smaller water droplets than the baseline of no mask. This was interpreted (by media, not the study's originator) to mean they're worse than no mask for spreading COVID.
A case of science sciencing then nonscience people drawing all kinds of conclusions and then citing studies that don't necessarily say what they're trying to say. Hell the point of the paper was to show how to create inexpensive testing methods for measurement not the specific measurements themselves.

When it was time to decide whether or not to send the kids back to school, my lovely wonderful and perfectly reasoned ex-wife was really worried about them going back to school. Not because we're still in the midst of a pandemic, but because out of some MAGAnon corner of the internet an article by some obscure quack doctor was making the rounds that wearing masks can cause respiratory infection.
I repeat: she was not worried about the kids getting COVID at all. She was worried that they would be forced to wear a mask which would get them sick.
They've been back in school and meanwhile.... she's barely washed their masks.

Yeah I certainly wasn't trying to circumvent anything, I just didn't hear about gaiters being less effective. I was still social distancing and taking all the recommended precautions.
I think one of the issues with this pandemic is we had to see the science around it evolve in real time, which can be confusing, it's normal to have all these seemingly contradictory studies at early stages of any research but you usually don't hear about the results until all these issues are thoroughly tested and sorted out. But we didn't have this luxury this time.

Yeah when I first saw a restaurant with that sign about Gaiters not counting as masks I was like wtf.
Let's not even get in to the fact that the flimsy paper mask they consider okay was only needed to walk 10 feet in the place to sit at the bar, where I promptly removed it and killed illness the old fashioned way, with booze.
And this place wasn't an anomaly. There was a rash of places in north Texas like this. Glad to hear it wasn't widespread because it was one of the dumber things I saw during the last year.

That is super weird. I heard nothing about it here in the East Coast and we've been to at least 6 different states.

1.) the FBI has at least hinted at jail time for forged vaccination papers. 2.) the vaccine doesn't even prevent you from getting the virus - it only lessens your symptoms. a.) so the masks can completely stop now why?

2 is misleading. It doesn't completely stop you from getting the virus BUT it keeps the viral load low enough to stop you from having serious symptoms OR spreading the virus. So it effectively neutralizes the virus.
And a) you're upset about the masks being lifted now? Lol! Why? I thought that's what you wanted.
