Had a dog scare

Gizzy - 3 year old pit terrier mix was sitting in the living room. I go and get some chips, he's usually all over me. Tried to even give him one, be didn't want it - very strange for him.

Them he makes that 'smiling' look he makes before he is going to puke. We hustle him outside, he sniffs around, gags a bit, then he loses his balance and falls down. Very shaky, tried to eat some grass.

To cut to the chase - just got back from 30 minute emergency vet visit - $350 poorer - and no real answer what it was. They gave him a shot for nausea, did blood/urine work and sent him home. He still is acting sick, but resting. Hope he gets back to normal - but no idea what happened/is happening to him.

Kinda weird and scary - send mojo his way please.

yeah weird , does he go out side alot ? Dogs will eat anything including like nuts and berries off trees that are not good for them . Hopefully it's nothing

He goes out on a leash/cable, hasn't been doing anything out of the ordinary really - just stumped sad to reheat it could be - he must have eaten something that isn't agreeing with him. The dizziness/falling was the weirdest.

Oh yeah, when got him to the vet, let him out of the car, pee was just dribbling out of him.

Of course, you can only talk to the vet on the phone while you wait outside - but he really didn't seem concerned at all. As I said, really no answers.

He gets a monthly preventative that should kill any tick that even gets on him - but we did/do check him for ticks. Blood work may be done tomorrow they said. He's very calm sleeping on the couch now.

it's a good sign that he's sleeping and does not seem to be in pain. Hopefully it's just something he ate and it will solve itself.

Yeah - certainly hope that is the case. He was much better coming out of the vet than going in - and also much better coming home than when we took him.

It's the wobbliness/falling that freaks me out more than the upset stomach. No fever either.

Sounds a little similar to our giant dummy Lily a few weeks back. Drooling, shivering, weak on her feet, throwing up, then later in the garden she collapsed looking like she had passed out, really weak.

Found out it was caffeine. The outside bin had blown down in a storm, and she'd stupidly eaten some used coffee grounds because she's a moron. Good thing she's a 30kg moron, or that could have gone a lot worse.

update - Gizzy is back to his old self today.
It could have been caffeine here too - he loves coffee - always wants a drink of my wife's coffee.
Never has gotten a large amount - or a reaction to it - but its a possibility.

A few years ago on a vacation we had a freaky thing happen where our dog (Boxer) went from all fired up to suddenly stopped moving, in a weird hunched over position puking/shitting and not moving. We were freaked about it for awhile, but it turned out to be heat stroke and shock of her jumping into some very cold water.

First day of a 10 day vacation, I'm glad we gave her some time to settle down and didn't do anything crazy as it passed within a couple hours, but we were freaked out for awhile.

Glad to hear! That must be scary.. especially this young. Dogs eat all kinds of things, who knows... i would check stools for anything off.

Worst case you can turn him in to a drone

Although a full dog might be too heavy so you may just have to have a doghead drone. If it were me I'd make sure to attach his tail like a cool ass pony tail or something. Dope.
