Where in BFE is West Dakota??!!?!?!?

Thought you’d never ask. Having been there, I can safely tell you that there is no West Dakota. It’s a reference from the Telltale Games episodic Sam and Max games for the Wii (or such consoles).

6 weeks ago my wife and I did Vegas, Valley of Fire, Death Valley, Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, Tucson National parks, Titian Missle, Tombstone. In Palm Springs we stayed two days in Bobby Darin and Sandra Dee's old home. My wife's brother rented it for a whole month. Really cool area.

I haven't been anywhere. We've had some out of state gigs, but I don't count them. Going to Florida on Friday tho, to see Moms. First time I'll see her, since this shit went down.

The only place I've traveled to outside of Houston has been Amarillo late last January. My buddy, my roommate and I did a turn-and-burn there to clear out our buddy's storage unit. We did that round trip in about 36 hours.

One of the reasons I haven't traveled is lack of funds. I had my job, at fulltime, the entire pandemic, but my roommate was furloughed January 2020, then was laid-off the following July, and wasn't able to pick up another job until January of this year. So, during that time, I was paying all of the rent and all of the bills.

The other and main reason, I just didn't want to catch the 'rona, nor spread it. It was my choice and I don't regret it.

Also, not being able to go out and spend money saved me a shit ton  Now that my roommate is paying me back and I go out less, I'm saving money hand-over-fist. I was able to by a new Fender American Tele and a new amp head. Plus, now that I'm getting my 2nd dose this Friday, I'll be traveling again this summer. I've already booked my hotel room and plane tickets for Punk Rock Bowling 2021 in Vegas this September. Out of all the things I missed, I fucking miss live shows!

Great to have a roommate that you are such friends with that you carried him for months, and now he is now paying you back fully!

Congrats on that! We need more of that in this world - or at least acknowledge the value of it when it happens.

oh derp, I forgot we flew to Amarillo for a wedding in October.

Good luck with Vegas. When we were there last month it fucking sucked. Way too many people. It seems a lot of people got stimulus checks and suddenly they no longer cared about Coof. So there were hoards of low income people acting out and it wasn't nearly as much fun as the times we went in 2020. We booked our trip in January for like $190 a person, and we overheard so many damn people talking about booking after their stimulus hit to the tune of $800-1000 per person. I guess prices spiked hard as soon as stimulus money hit. Even simple things like restaurants were packed with hours long wait lists. Trashy people had their entire family, with young kids, out for vacation and it was annoying af. Why someone would ever choose to bring 4 young kids to Vegas is absolutely beyond me. Uber was impossible to rely on since no one was opting to drive due to their recent influx of cash

Hopefully for your sake it will level out and return to normal. We won't be going back until people have wasted all their new found monies.

Punk Rock Bowling is awesome though!!! Can't go wrong with it.

That and Psycho Fest were my favorite events in Vegas.

Were you on the main strip only or did you also go to the Freemont strip downtown? PRB is downtown and most attendees stay on the Freemont strip. It's usually Memorial Day weekend, so it's hilarious to see the slack-jawed tourists be freaked out by all the punk rockers  I'm usually either at the festival, Evel Pie, or the club shows, which, sadly, there aren't many of this year. I'm not a gambler and typically don't like tourist attractions. I went to the main strip last time I went and hated it. It just felt like a giant shopping mall.

We did both. Honestly it should be calmed down and back to normal by then. I love every aspect of Vegas, and just got super pissed about the number of trashy families with their kids.

I would have loved to see a wave of punk rockers amidst the amusement park on 1/2 price day type crowd I saw last time. Trust when I say, y'all wouldn't have been shocking these carnie/trailer/ghetto folk.
