Are we still doing OGWHID?
I think that was the acronym that was started when a bunch of you guys started Rubatoing (having kids).
Anyway looks like I'll have my first sometime early September. Its a boy, that is all.

This kid will be raised into the hybridized Helix into tube power section world that has dad knows and loves.

Thanks guys.
The timing of this is weird and it was planned to happen at some point soon just not at this exact point.
Oh well at least we've got a good sized house and a yard now instead of a downtown loft like we had in Chicago.

Though the gear that Jr. will be raised around is quite questionable, you're in a great spot in life for this to happen and definitely better sooner rather than later.
Even though everyone wishes that they have kids after career is established, finances under control, etc., to me that's fine so long as you achieve those things while you're still young prior to age 40. Having children is 100% a young man's job.
And one thing I reflect on often about having kids is, your kids will keep you young if you let them. Throwing a football, racing on scooters, catching a bug collection, dark house hide and go seek, building forts, and even with a daughter... tea parties, taking her and your granddolly to the market to go shopping together, maybe even some mani-pedis. Do it all. If you go with it you will find yourself feeling a few minutes younger than you did.

Congrats man! Being a dad is the dumbest and best thing I ever did. And my son is raised in a hybrid tube/helix environment.

Congratulations. Be careful of loud volumes around him. He cannot handle the dbs as we can.
And sleep train him before he sleep trains you.
I hope you embrace fatherhood. I said to myself that all the money in the world won't buy back the time I didn't spend with my babies, and I have never regretted it. "I completely wasted all that time hanging out with my baby," said nobody. Looking back, I see the time I spent with my babies was more for me than the baby. In fact, I believe that the more time you spend with them, the slower they grow.
They'll drive you nuts though, not gonna lie. It's not all butterflies and rainbows.
Anyway, don't get me started.
Congratulations, man.

Yeah I've definitely been feeling the clock ticking the last 3 or so years (I'm 36).
I hear you on the staying young. Its part of why I've dedicated so much time in my life to living a pretty healthy lifestyle. I was just playing with my niece and nephew this weekend and its great to be able have the flexibility, strength, and endurance to do whatever silly stuff with them that they want to do. I think the infant stage will be the most difficult for me honestly because I enjoy kids the most once they're walking/talking but I'm looking forward to it none the less.

Thank you sir.
Definitely planning to embrace it. My father was never involved in my life so its something I've always promised myself I'd do right for my future children. As for what you're saying I specifically turned down job offers and promotions in favor of my current position at my company which affords me the ability to stay at home and often work on my own schedule. I'm paid well enough at this point so the freedom is worth quite a bit and I'm happy I'll be able to be around quite a bit for my kids early life.

Re: Are we still doing OGWHID?
My daughter will be 2 in a little over a month. Because of covid making it difficult to get her into daycare, my wife and/or I were with her for every minute of the first 18 months, and I’m so glad it worked out that way. I wound up working 6-10am and 6-10pm, and watching her in the middle 8 hours, which certainly was tiring, but it was also awesome to get to spend time together every day.
