Pics of the last amp that i built. SLO content

Post by Toe-Knee »

I thought for my first (non intructory) post i'd stick up some pictures of the last amp that i built for myself.

I messed up with the positioning of the preamp PCB so it isn't quite as tidy as i'd like. However it's ultra quiet and sounds amazing so it's not really a big deal.

very nice - I think I like the choke and big caps inside the chassis like that.
Very clean on the outside - do you have a better shot of the top of the chassis out of the headshell?

I don't have one of this particular amp without the headshell but I do have this one which is one that i built for a friend while back.

This one is using InMadOut transformers rather than the O'netics that i used in mine.

Also this is using a different chasiss (newer revision from C3amps) that is pre drilled for onetics transformers hence why there are a few spare holes here and there.

Also here are some clips of the above amp (InMadOut)

Cheers.

I honestly think that clip deserves its own thread.

Nah they're just some DI tracks i got from the sneap forum for amp testing and reamped.

I also just noticed that the clips aren't of either amp in this thread. Pretty much the same as the second though.

Nice work. Whose boards did you use?
I do like the inMADout OTs. I have one in an AOR and they're beastly.

The boards are from C3amps theyre a bit overkill. 3mm thick with 4oz copper traces.

InMadOuts are great units. The Onetics i used in my build are thicker and tighter with more midrange detail however they're also double the price even with a discount. In general I use the InMadOuts and recently BLS from the UK.

Ah ha. I knew I had seen that avatar somewhere before! You're on the SCF yeah? You'll have to let me know how those BLS OTs work out for you. I can seem myself using the toridy.pl toroids for my purposes for a while.

Do you mean SDF? If so yeah. I will do. It was a the only sensible option using the BLS OT because nobody was willing to make a simulclass OT.

Here are a couple of rough recordings of song ideas that I did that don't really fit with my band. Note they're very 'rough'

Sounds good man!

The C3 boards are nice. I built two SLO Clones, one with the Smash boards and one with the C3 boards. Both are laid out very well, but I like the fact that you can use a better selection of filter caps with the C3 boards. Overkill, yes. You could probably put them in a hydraulic press and not bend them.

Nice to see you here, man. I'm Soulcrusher_X over on the Seymour Duncan forum.

I didn't get this at first. But after a quick glance around the forum I do.

Definitely not me. This is my amp.
