Honestly, I think that's all tied up together. If we know how to keep our uglies hidden, we probably know how to keep our shiny star bits hidden too. There are those with the personality type where they just don't give a fuck what others see in them, and they can conquer the world, sometimes literally, and under it all you find a pile of dicks.

Insert Mike's yin/yang here.
Yeah my thoughts exactly.
Take Nikola Tesla for example, he thought some absolutely wild stuff but that’s EXACTLY why he was such a profound invented and engineer. He claimed to have developed, built, tested, and revised new designs entirely in his head multiple times before building them IRL. The same mental freedom to allow one to come up with ground breaking ideas is the same one that allows himself to be in love with a pigeon. As Mike noted these are inseparable.

a couple things I'd like to see solved , Hunger , there is no reason any humans should be without food anywhere on Earth . That's it , I'd be happy with just that more or less . I don't have kids so it's easier for me to suggest we control the population but yeah maybe control the population in an agreeable and Earth friendly way if that is possible . In America maybe require a test before kids , dogs or cats are allowed

That shit will never, EVER fly. Too many people still think we need to go forth and multiply like bunnies because, clearly, there's a shortage of humans.
I won't even touch on the arguments about how not exponentially increasing the population would have a negative effect on Wall Street.

yeah I agree. And you also have to factor in how much more you can get away with when you achieve a certain level of success.

Yeah the economics of most countries depends on an expanding population. Look at the problems Japan is having and the problems Russia is having due to the "fertility crisis" that's happening in a whole lot of countries.
The good news though is that there doesn't have to be a tradeoff between population and resources at the level we've always imagined. The other good news (until COVID) is that the global population living in extreme poverty decreased by 1/2 over the course of 20 years, despite population numbers steadily increasing. That trend was already visible since 1970 and hasn't let up. Some estimates indicate that we might end global poverty by 2030....
if we make it that far. There are obviously other huge hazards that can get in the way of that, least of which is climate change.

As a northern transplant I’m literally just learning about this independent grid that is failing around me and causing damage to my friends homes due to lack of heat/bursting pipes.
Illinois had its issues for sure but the power was never down for more than a couple hours and the roads were always safely plowed and salted.
Just happy I happen to live close enough to some essential services to have not fallen victim to the rolling outages. Would have loved to left the house as well but at least I’ve got power.

It's all fun and games until FEMA isn't there to pull you off of your roof.

lets hope so , and lets hope they all are able to live safe and with well stocked food . It's a money thing really , maybe some future global society can figure it out but people should not be going hungry , farmers should not be throwing out food and humans should be able to help someone that needs it and not need millions of dollars to do so . Think about all the dumb shit people did before we even walked this Earth . Some genius decided it would be a good idea to put trash on a barge in the sea ,or build a damn so big it throws the Earth off it's rotation... some dopes thought it would be a good idea to plant their indigenous plants and animals in their new found lands because it reminded them of their home land . I mean so many things are fuckered it will take several hundred years to fix it all .

I'm sure now that it's happened a mitigation strategy is being developed and if anyone is going to do a good job of that it's the Germans.
In any case coal is the primary source of energy in Germany anyway and the central European grid is massively interconnected. It's not like they are realistically going without power.

A mitigation strategy should have been baked into the original design. I wonder if solar panels can be designed to backfeed stored power through themselves to act like a defroster?
We've been so cold for so long they've started considering rolling blackouts. Our wind turbines around here are built to withstand serious cold spells, but we've been so cold that they had to shut them down because the heating elements in them couldn't keep them warm enough to prevent the metals and carbon structures from freezing to the point of getting too brittle to handle the movement without shattering. This is some cray-cray level shit. Had we only stayed at twenty below for a couple days, we'd have been fine, but it's been near a week. Thankfully, we're above zero for the first time since early last week, and we should see fifty by middle of next week.
I can't imagine what southerners that aren't used to this crap at all are going through. Fucking hell.

Being my first winter down here it certainly is interesting.
Normally I laugh at what the locals consider cold or rough driving but this shit definitely hits different down here.
By that I mean the roads, bridges, homes, and municipal services just aren't designed for it. No joke the icey roads here this week have been the most difficult driving I've ever encountered and I spent my first 36 years of life in the midwest getting hit with shit every winter. Even when I lived in rural northern Indiana and the plows are few and far between, that doesn't compare to this.
Its really wild man, especially with the grid failing and so many people out of power. Things just aren't built for this kind of cold and/or snow and you just don't realize how well prepared the north is for this kind of stuff until you experience it elsewhere and it cripples the city and burst pipes start + power outages start doing damage to homes.
