That does tug at the heart strings... It reminds me of the soldier killed in action a few years back and his dog just laid by his casket at the service. It really makes me wonder how much dogs truly understand...
My family has always been a pet family, this really pulls at my heart strings... I do believe that pets (specifically dogs) should be more or less considered part of the family instead of a pet. Dogs understand a lot more than we give them credit. Its obvious they know when there owner's are sick or dying... they can sense it... and it makes me sad to see this because you know they didn't lose an owner.. they lost there friend.

You can literally see the grief on the dogs face.
Yeah, look at its posture. The way it's tail was tucked and the way it was lowering itself said a lot.
I have a German Shepherd. It's ridiculous how much that dog understands. I have no doubt it knew what was going on.
