Someone requests most intense song you like, what you play?
So say a friend who doesn't listen to anything heavy asks you to play the heaviest most intense stuff you listen to what do you play for them?
The goal here is specifically to confuse, terrify, or otherwise break their brain.
For me its one of two probably:

Curious to what you guys would play as its fun to watch some peoples brains overload when their frame of reference for "heavy" is Enter Sandman.

Underneath the Waves would be my pick off this album. I'd probably cue up Angel of Death as well

"I Cum Blood" is the first one that comes to mind.
I'll also play "Entombment of a Machine" by Job For a Cowboy from time to time to annoy my girlfriend in the car. Might be another one to consider if you want to show them something a little less lyrically graphic

I'd probably grab a modern band techy-death type song with constant time-shifts and crazy riffing. Something like Beyond Creation or Psycroptic.
Or really confuse them and grab an Aliases tune where they don't ever really play a note, just all sorts of odd-ball guitar sounds in counterpoint rhythms while the singer screams his face off and the drummer has an epileptic fit.

Re: Someone requests most intense song you like, what you pl
keyword being most intense song I like I really don't listen to the newer heavy stuff, most of it just go right over my head... But this is a good workout for the right hand, especially given that Tommy plays and sings at the same time..

Re: Someone requests most intense song you like, what you pl
There's just too many. I completely acknowledge that most of what I love it un-listenable to most.
Here's a short list:
Fucking Archspire are making some of the most mindblowingly tight music out there. They're even tighter live:

Revocation is probably my favorite band and I have no idea how Dave can possibly sing and play this shit:

Gord Olson is a beast and there's some lobstercaster in this too:

Hannes Grossman has such great fucking vocals and both LPs fucking slap:

The new Inferi is unrelenting:

Edited to add Archspire again because Remote Tumor Seeker has so many ridiculous riffs:

You're so welcome! These dudes are such beasts and one of their guitarists has a pretty awesome social media presence (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCV3_xcWQ1J55f1kehK4-TOw).
I'll check out Capharnaum, but I can't find it anywhere except on Youtube, which is kind of annoying. I have to admit that I still really dig Trivium. There were some dud albums, but I like their latest.
Re: Someone requests most intense song you like, what you pl
Intense sorta implies speed. It’s been done, and done near perfect back in the 90s! Hah.
But for some shit that will melt an open mind, this album is one. Played on fret less guitars and a masterful experiment.

And this is pretty chill compared to his other stuff but he’s an evil mastermind. One guy does this all.

Re: Someone requests most intense song you like, what you pl
Some more intensity in the way of coming from the soul. And if I could steal someone’s voice for my bands, I’d prolly steal this guys sound! Good balance of Acid and alcohol! Cool tidbit is he is playing a 10 string. But not
Like a Djent Ibanez, but like the old BC Rich Bich. Where the two low strings are single strings and the top 4 are strung like a 12 string. In this dude’s case he’s using an extended scale tuned down to B. You can hear during certain section the sound of the doubled up strings when playing chords to a killer effect.

Re: Someone requests most intense song you like, what you pl
But my favorite metal song of all time still is the most intense shit to my ears. I still get chills during the break down. The verse riff is pure unadulterated aggression. You can just feel the tensed up rigid forearm muscles Picking that riff and the Hatred in it. This song changed how I viewed music and still stands up as the songwriting is strong

Last one. Another from the mid 90s and it’s still unsurpassed as far as being intense and as off the rails as shit can be that still makes all the sense in the world! Haha
